She is somewhere else. Very much against her will - somewhere else.
Telepathy doesn't let me read the language, I'll need help with that. ...I don't really want to replace my jewelry with uglier jewelry. I don't have a minimum amount of jewelry I need to wear all the time, it was just the fashion where I came from.
Valanda considers the coolness of the ring she's paying with and goes ahead and reads the imperial laws out loud.
Where I'm originally from subtle arts are considered technically and legally distinct from magic. Does that matter?
Subtle arts don't show up to magic-detection spells or interact with anti-magic fields and it's studied in a completely different way.
Okay. Now she’s going to be a statue while he goes and hires a knowledge mage to check that claim. And while she's frozen he can put the bracelets on her.
Yeah no that's not undetectable. The knowledge mage will be professional about not telling anyone but very insistently says they'll be available if Valanda wants to investigate this person more in the future.
No subjective time later Bella hasn't moved but her host is frowning grimly and she's wearing the bracelets.
I don't want these. I told you that. She telekineses them off.
"No one likes being enslaved. But we're even, right, I'm out what I paid for the bracelets and you're not hurt."
I don't know what the fuck is wrong with you or this plane but you are so lucky my friends haven't found me yet. Fuck you. And she gets up and attempts to leave.
Can she find her way out of this building without breaking any laws?
She puts the ring back on. She was evidently being threatened with having magic put on her, a free person, the entire time she had that interaction, and she doesn't really want to have to take it to court whether that invalidates the implied contract or whether implications count, but he didn't complain immediately when she left with the ring still in her hand and she does not want to pay someone a nice Elf ring for this fey bullshit.
Out onto the street.
The exit lets her out into a market square. The buildings all around are mostly painted in organic green and brown designs. There's a park in the distance. In the square there are canvas-covered market stalls selling fruit and meat and honey and various magic services. There are no other humans immediately visible (or incidentally behind scenery, though mostly people in buildings are hidden from subtle arts).
Walking slowly - her boots are working fine, but it seems like it would be very dangerous to trip onto somebody here, and practically everybody is mindblanked so she can't even rely on noticing them approaching if she's not looking right at them - she makes her way to the market. If it's just food and magic she's probably out of luck but maybe there'll be a jeweler who has an un-mindblanked staffer or something.
She goes and sits under a tree in the park. It is an inferior tree with inferior ground underneath it because she's spoiled by Valinor but it's not, like, an actively evil tree, so that's nice.
She hates this place and probably but not definitely most but almost certainly not all of the people in it, so she doesn't want to start slinging wizardry even though her watch and her boots still work, which is really inconvenient, because practically all her non-magic skills require people. And most of them are so shielded she can't even talk to them. She needs to stay alive long enough for Fëanáro to find her, which means she needs food and shelter, which means she needs money - they're using those ring things -
Okay. The first step is going to be finding someone she can talk to. This is going to suck. She should just go in expecting that at least the first twenty people she finds who aren't mind-blanked will just happen to suck, because the first completely random person did, and she should probably not tell them this as it comes up because the number might be higher or they might be really few and far between and then she might have to go back to somebody she rejected before.
Is there anyone not mind-blanked in range.
