"Well, just try your best, and perhaps give me warning if you intend to. That way I can get a head start on my paperwork. Now, my secretary should have your timetable all sorted and ready for you. You'll want to take a trip to the library to collect your textbooks and suchlike."

"Thanks. Does this mean I get to skip first period?"

"Just this once. Don't make a habit of it."

She holds out a note excusing Khloe from first period, and it's a clear dismissal.

"Thanks. And if you ever start your journey to whistling stardom, give me a ring."

"Have a good day, Ms Sommers. Welcome to Sunnydale."

She waves and sees herself out, grabbing her timetable from the office lady.

...and now to the library, she supposes.

There's a woman sat at the desk, a book open in front of her as well as a notepad that she's making notes on - is that text even in English? She doesn't immediately notice Khloe's appearance.

This is fine. Gives her a chance to take a look around.

It's a school library-

-Wait. Is that an English to Sumerian dictionary? What?

A man comes out of the office, and stops when he sees Khloe.

"Hi," he says, a little redundantly. "Tal?"

'Tal' looks up. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't notice you. You should have said."

Khloe smiles and picks up the dictionary.

"It's cool. I was just scoping out the environment, wasting away my free period. Interesting books. Didn't see Sumerian in the class registry."

"It's a fascinating language, I've always had an interest in dead languages, and really more people should, Ms...?"

"Sommers. I've just transferred from LA. Can I borrow this? I'm a bit of a language nerd myself."

"-Khloe Sommers, right?"

"Heard about the fire too, huh?"

"I mean, fire is an excellent way to get rid of vampires. Talia Marchmont, my brother Henri."

....right. Watchers. She should have known.

...Yeah, Henri notices that reaction. "Look, our job is to make sure you stay alive, alright? We're just another tool. And uh, you did kinda move to a Hellmouth."

"Hellmouth? I moved here because my mom got a new job."

Also, the fact she got expelled, ruined her parent's marriage and was committed were factors too.

"-that's quite the coincidence." Pauses. "Take a look into how many cemeteries this town has. And the school newspapers." She does in fact hold out a copy of the school newspaper. Open to the obituaries.

She takes the newspaper and sits up on the table in the middle of the room. There's... a lot.

"This is just this week?"

"The student mortality rate isn't normally this high. It's been a bad week. The nightlife seems...restless."

"Another Master Vampire? I already killed Lothos."

"It's possible," Talia says. "Unfortunately, there's more than one. And well, Hellmouths do attract creatures wanting to make themselves even more powerful."

"When you say hellmouth... is that a literal definition?"
