"I don't pay much attention to that kind of thing but I don't think this one does."

"Do you want to keep it a secret?"

"An Essecarmë would be nice and I think my family'd be sad not to be there for the naming of the baby, but it is a long time to wait."

"Essecarmë?"

"That's what the naming ceremony's called."

"Ah. ...We have named her, though, does that not affect anything?"

"You don't usually make it up on the spot at the ceremony."

...Yeah, but...there's a difference between "I am deciding what her name will be" and "I am deciding what her name is" and I was very much conceptualizing it as the latter.

If you want to tell everybody, you can.

If they'll be sad if we don't do the thing I wanna do the thing, I just also want to not tiptoe around her name until then.

That seems like a fair enough compromise. 

"Her name's Artemis Serefinwe, but don't actively spread it around--if anyone asks, it's not a secret, but our family'll be happier if it's a suprise."

"That's a pretty name."

"She's going to be beautiful."

She looks between the two of them. "Probably, yeah."
