"Demons we haven't had to deal with, I don't think. What are they?"

"Chaotic Evil outsiders. The Abyss is within Creation, they're not inherently maddening to comprehend, but they're, well, Chaotic Evil."

"And you're sure they're actually bad?"

"...yes, I am sure demons are actually bad."

"You have to admit, an Outer God classifying people as Evil and not-Evil, they might not agree with us on what that means."

"Pharasma's Judgment mostly correlates with human judgment so far as I'm aware; it's her sentencing that the forces of Good take issue with."

"--honestly that's not the weirdest possible Outer God situation. Fine. Complaint retracted."

"There are probably petitioners in the Abyss who aren't that bad, who were Maledicted there or who came off unusually poorly at trial. But once they become demons, no."

"What the fuck????"

"The Abyss is an afterlife. That's... the problem with Pharasma's sentencing, that there are Evil afterlives."

"There are what???"

"Alignment in life with Good, Evil, Chaos, Law, or the intermediate point on either spectrum decides which afterlife a soul goes to."

"Souls survive after death???? In the normal case????"

"Yes. - I mean, in the Abyss and also particularly in Abaddon they are sometimes then eaten. But yes. This is also how resurrections work."

"No, resurrections work by yoinking your soul forward in time from the point of your death with the power of Yog-Sothoth. --Or occasionally reducing you to your essential salts and bringing you back, but people tend to come back wrong that way even if no cat hair gets accidentally mixed in."

"...I've personally raised the dead to life, albeit only with scrolls, and I did not require Yog-Sothoth or salt to do it."

"Have we had an afterlife all along???"

"Probably? I can't cast the spells that would let you check up on anyone you knew."

"Because it's illegal or because you don't know how?"

"Because I'm not powerful enough. I could do a Sending at fourth circle, a Scrying at fifth, but I'm third."

"A sorcerer admitting they can't do something, will wonders never cease."

"I'm a cleric, not a sorcerer. If you wanted to count my fractional cantrip, which would be very strange, I could be construed as a wizard. Sorcerers cast the same range of spells as wizards for the most part but they're born with them rather than learning them or getting them from a god."

"For us, the division is 'ponies'-- as in 'one-trick pony'-- who are trying to keep their sanity intact and so can only cast a few times a year, and 'sorcerers' who aren't and can cast nearly as much as they like, and 'psychics' who are like what you call sorcerers except they can only do one thing each. We don't distinguish clerics and wizards, or else don't have them. "

"It seems plausible you just don't have them. I'd be a little surprised if clerics were limited to Golarion in particular as a phenomenon but not astonished and wizardry seems likely to be very contingent."

"--Question, when you're dressed like this, is it because magic sticks better to medieval armor for some reason, or is that actually your tech level?"
