Longtime readers of The Commons will notice the difference in style. We have lost our boldest writer in the chaos of the third. But the convention continues, so we continue to report and offer suggestions to benefit the People of Cheliax.
Sortition did bring many virtuous common folk to the convention. Our queen chose wise and just nobles. The gods chose wise and just clerics. Both benefit from the perspective of the common folk, who see things the high may not notice. This aids the creation of just laws.
The practice can be useful even after the constitutional convention ends. The Commons recommends the following policy of annual sortition: The queen and the archmages by lot choose and summon a man and a woman every year. The two are asked what troubles they each face. Then they are returned home with memories are erased. Thereby the sortitioned are protected from retaliation, no one knows their answers and it cannot even be read from their minds. In this way, the queen will know of the lives of the common people.
Readers who find this policy sensible and useful to the people of Cheliax, give a copy of this pamphlet to any delegate you know.
