There are many people that a gang could set upon on a night, and even get away the victors. But even with the advantage of numbers, attacking the four tipsy people who'd been weaving down the street has turned out to be very much the wrong decision. Because the four tipsy people are in fact military trained. That they're tipsy barely impedes their reactions. It doesn't take them long to have it over with, breathing a little rushed, faces flushed with adrenaline and grins.
Aaren is watching them very fondly.
'Chelle eventually responds, and when Lan shows Percy the text, it's a stream of confused emojis, and a selfie of her striking a theatrical confused expression.
Gosh, this family is too adorable.
Percy pauses to bask, but then resume flying.
His family is excellent, and he will definitely appreciate anyone who appreciates that. While the boys are distracted flying, he'll ask the triplets about what had them even start experimenting with this.
The triplets had been trying to figure out how to improve and expand magic for years. They did a bunch of systematic experiments - they figured that few supernaturals ever done research in a sufficiently scientific way - and tons of historical research on documents of variously reliable levels. Then a lot of trial and error until something worked.
This is still incredibly impressive. Most people wouldn't have the staying power to get through the trial and error portion.
They are flattered! It was frustrating at times and mind-boggling at others, but they figured out ways to vary the experiments and do them around the day. So it didn't feel like wasting hours doing nothing.
That's good, and (a gesture at the boys), definitely time well spent.
They are sure glad it paid off. Even Felicia, the triplets with the least constructive element, is overjoyed.
Hey, all elements are needed!
Nice dog! Felicia pets Esca and looks around in case this is a precursor of Drex appearing.
She now has a dog leaning against her legs, panting happily, tail thumping on the ground.
And yes, it is a precursor to a Drex. Who is looking up at the sky in confusion. "When?" he asks as he gets into hearing range.
"When you can get an amulet of flying? Give us five business days and it can be yours at the low low price of 99.99.99."
"What he meant," Angelique says, poking Drex's shoulder playfully. "Is when did Lan get flight powers. And maybe a little when did Aaren pick up another stray."
"Ah. I don't know about Aaren's stray, but we figured out how to create magical items."
"You can give more than one word answers."
"He wouldn't be Drex if he did."
"Hey, as long you get your point across." Felicia says while she gives head scritches to Esca's left year.
Theresa does the same to the right.
