There are many people that a gang could set upon on a night, and even get away the victors. But even with the advantage of numbers, attacking the four tipsy people who'd been weaving down the street has turned out to be very much the wrong decision. Because the four tipsy people are in fact military trained. That they're tipsy barely impedes their reactions. It doesn't take them long to have it over with, breathing a little rushed, faces flushed with adrenaline and grins.
Aaren in the meantime, finishes handling his email, weighs out flour, fetches milk and mixes the milk into the flour, and sets a skillet on the hob to heat.
Percy can easily transition into helping with other tasks. He is careful and pays attention.
Aaren seems happy to have the help - if a little unpracticed at having a sous chef.
'Chelle appears as the first pancakes are being cooked, and starts making coffee in the machine.
Percy will compensate by being a very attentive sous chef.
He also pays attention on how 'Chelle likes her coffee. He can multitask.
Strong. And with milk. No sugar.
She offers him a cup with a quiet head tilt.
She doesn't make his quite as strong, and adds milk. She makes a cup for Aaren, and another cup - probably for Lan - that is probably strong enough to stand a spoon up in.
Percy still has a weird relationship to food. He is mostly curious at the effects of caffeine in his body. He thanks her anyway.
In the meantime, Aaren finishes making pancakes, and piles them onto a plate, which goes onto the table.
'Chelle intercepts him with practiced ease, and pushes him into a seat, putting the mug she made for him in front of him.
"It's hot," she says.
Percy does his food distribution proportional to desire trick. "Did you sleep well?"
"As well as I ever do," 'Chelle says - she's surprisingly bright for the fact she didn't get that much sleep in the scheme of things.
"I slept well. Please tell me you didn't spend the early hours having arguments on the internet, Sparky?"
"Translation: 'slept fine, too early, you're all weird'." Percy pats him on the back.
"Sounds about right for Lan before his first cup of coffee. Did you sleep well, Percy?"
"-Did I miss ending up in bed with you?" Lan still looks a little bleary as he blinks at Percy.
