Iter glances at the door Saud went through. "Yeah."

-Who's steady presence has just wavered, shock and disbelief (and a tiny glimmer of excitement) taking their place.

Iter goes still and blank externally. Saud?

She doesn't respond, but abruptly reappears in the bar, crossing directly towards him, lips pressed together.

"Everything okay?" He asks Iter, not seeing Saud reemerge. The rapid change in his expression didn't lead Zev to think it was.

Iter is already off the chair and going to meet Saud halfway.

She clutches onto him the minute he's within arms reach, like she needs to remind herself that this is real.

Iter holds her, gently, but tightly. I'm here, "I'm here," he murmurs, both silently and aloud.

I'm pregnant.

"Pregnant," she repeats aloud, hands tight on Iter's shirt, half seeming like she expects him to push her away (even though she knowsknowsknows he won't).

Iter's response is to tighten his arms around her. "I'm here," he repeats, even as he reels.

"She's what?"

Did- did Iter? Saud and Nova are alts, Saud most likely feels the same was as Nova about...that, how could she be pregnant without him...

Iter's posture has shifted to a defensive one, ready for a fight, but he doesn't say anything, waiting for Saud's answer. (He doesn't know, he doesn't know, he thinks Zev is wrong that Saud is hurt but--)

"I don't like what you're implying," Saud snarls, "Iter would never hurt me."

Zev looks at Nova. Would he be so certain, were the situation reversed?

But then he looks at Iter, and knows that he wouldn’t. Because Zev himself wouldn’t.

“I’m sorry. I- Nova and I haven’t had a lot of reason to trust strangers.” He hopes it’s enough of an apology.

Saud doesn't exactly relax, shoulders tense, staying tight against Iter.

Iter doesn't ease out of his combat stance either, watching Zev closely, but he seems less alarmed.

“Are you okay?” He asks Saud.

"Surprised, but yes. Iter wouldn't hurt me."

“No. He wouldn’t,” he agrees.

Iter isn't always so sure of that, but -- Saud is. And that matters so much.

You wouldn't. You've had so many opportunities, and you never did.

Iter relaxes into her a little. I--
