The kid looks like she's gonna be pretty much rooted to the spot until they leave.

Lianne takes off, heading away.

Kaylee follows.

"I think her Kyubey must have been talking to her," she murmurs, as much to her self as to Lianne.  "The way she kept - looking at him."

"I think so too, yeah..."

"I don't... feel great... about just leaving her.  But I don't know what else we can do."

"Yeah. It's - a bad situation..."

She's... quiet, on the way back to the hotel.

Lianne is, too.

It's early morning by the time they get back to the hotel room.  Kaylee falls asleep pretty quick.

Kaylee's not up for much sightseeing the next day.

Then, that evening: round two, off in another neighborhood.

Lianne's not up for much, either.

She's quiet, still, when they're going searching.

"Do you feel that?" Kaylee asks, into the silence.

There's more than one magic-signature, moving, within their range; three, all in different directions.

"Yeah. Wonder what's up?"

She turns, slowly, on the spot.  Frowns.  "I think they're coming toward us."

" - Yeah, I think so too."

Her knees are bent, halfway to a combat stance; her face is - distant.  Listening, sensing.

"I - don't like this."

"Me neither."

She takes a deep breath and drops into her raiment. "Come on, let's go - "

Kaylee nods, follows suit.

But as they try to rush out from between their three mystery pursuers, the two they move to slip between change direction, and the one behind them speeds up.

(There's a knife in each of her hands, already, but she's still running.)

Lianne is extremely fast when she wants to be - can afford to burn some magic on flying - Kaylee probably can't, and isn't as fast -

Still, she puts on as much speed as she can without leaving Kaylee behind.

“Can you call your sister, I bet we could get away in a car - ”

"Yeah, hold on - "

She's not running at her top speed anyways, so it's easy enough to coordinate calling her sister with their route.

Kaylee's slowing them down, she can tell.  Lianne can move faster than this.  Lianne can move faster than them - but Kaylee can't.  (She should be telling Lianne not to worry about her, she's putting Lianne in danger for her again and now she's putting Lianne's sister in danger too, this was what her wish was supposed to solve - )

(She doesn't say anything - )

There's a shot -

Kaylee yelps and spins as a musket ball grazes her arm -

One of their pursuers is visible, clad in wintergreen, white smoke billowing from the barrel of her musket, and two other girls gaining fast on foot.

"Hey what gives!" Lianne shouts, putting herself between Kaylee and the other girl, sword manifesting in her hand. "We're not trying to screw with your territory!"
