Sortition delegates are allowed to propose committees too, right? Liushna sort of proposed the slavery committee, and it seems to have worked.

Enric watches a few other proposals to get an idea on how this works, and then waits for a moment in between other proposals before taking a turn to speak.

“I motion to create a committee to decide how courts should work.”

He doesn’t have a speech prepared, and he‘s not going to try to make one up in front of everybody. So that’s all.

The argument room was a little bit fun to play rampant mephit in for a while, after she got her damn speech out of the way, but it's started to lose its luster. Mostly she just thinks everyone is very petty and stupid, and not even in a funny way. Also: she wants a nap. She can help with sewing, but her talents lie elsewhere, and she's mostly setting up for Tuimfane's much more skilled work.

But, well. It's obvious to even her how incredibly fucked up the Cheliax courts are. (She sometimes exploited this.)

"Seconded," she says, despite her growing headache. "I can confirm that from a comparative outsider's perspective, your inherited court system is a farce that desperately needs fixing."

Huh, that's surprising. Thanks, Enric Porras of wherever he's from.

"I support the illustrious Delegate Porras's proposal wholeheartedly. A Well-Functioning Judiciary cannot be built on Hellish quicksand. The Laws and Courts of the Realm are ancient in Name, dating to the days of Aspex and before him to old Taldor, but only in Name, for the Hellish Establishment made a Vile Mockery of the notion of Justice before the Law."

Ideally, that plants a bit of an anchor in everyone's mind that pre-Thrune law, which she has books on, is a solid foundation.

It’s the lawyer again.  Thea’s been expecting diabolist mischief from her.  But hearing her statement, Thea wonders if perhaps she judged the lawyer too harshly.  Maybe she genuinely hates hell?  Well no point arguing on the floor about it.  She’s still not signing anything from the lawyer.
