In this pamphlet I continue the work I earlier set out upon, that of reading and explaining the Acts of Iomedae, that all may understand the teachings of our kingdom's goddess. For although the Acts of Iomedae contain great wisdom, there are not enough copies in all the world for even a small fraction of our people to read them for themselves, not to mention the greater difficulty of reading a book than a pamphlet.

I shall now discuss what is sometimes termed the Fourth Act of Iomedae: that She through Her great courage inspired a regiment of men, though they be mortally wounded, to hold their position in fighting back a horde of wraiths led by Tar-Barphon himself, even unto their own deaths. It is said that upon the dawn, a glorious miracle occurred, and by the grace of Aroden an entire army of brave knights appeared to deliver them from the undead menace.

From this story we may discern much about the will of Iomedae.

First, that She wills us be brave. There are many who, through fear of death or worse, allow ourselves to be swayed from the right path. Iomedae does not wish us to think of whether we might die, only of what will happen if we do not; if any man or woman allows himself to be swayed from the right path by such fears, as when a man flees a monster rather than stand his ground and face it, it is a grave offense unto Her.

Second, that She, just as the Mother of All Souls, abhors the undead, and would bid us cast them down wherever they stand. This lesson, more than any other, is clear throughout the Acts of Iomedae, and all right-thinking people must understand to show no mercy to such monstrosities, no matter how they may try to manipulate us. Indeed, it seems to me that in this very city, there are those who have fallen under the sway of such creatures, not through foul magic but through their own foolishness. I have heard it said that some people have even used the spells of the Badger-skeleton for themselves -- a most grave mistake, for any gift offered by such a creature can bring only ruin.

Third, that the sun is sacred to Her, just as to many of the gods of good. For the sun banishes darkness from the world and heralds the light, just as goodness banishes evil. Therefore, all those who wish to properly honor Her ought rise to greet the sun, saying prayers to Her every morning at dawn's first light, allowing neither sloth nor other work to distract us from this obligation.

Finally, that She shall provide for us, if only we do all that She asks. Just as Aroden did not allow those of his people who stood steadfastly to perish, so Iomedae will ensure that we succeed at all our goals. Even in this very war, She has shown Herself willing to lend her aid. For it has been said by many of those brave soldiers who battered back the demons at the Worldwound, that when it seemed as if all was lost, Iomedae Herself appeared to seal it shut. And it has been said also, that by Iomedae's will, She revealed to all priests of Asmodeus the error of their ways, and that all of them in a single instant cast him out from their hearts.
