Kala is out wandering the gardens. She mostly doesn't know what to do with her mother's estate since her passing, but the various stewards and so on do, so she lets them get on with it and tries not to feel too useless.
The garden doesn't directly help with that, but it's still nice. She closes her eyes and bends her head to smell a flower with a particularly lovely fragrance.
She keeps crying for a while and then rests silently in his arms until her stomach decides to complain about this whole business.
...he snuggles her, and there's a flicker of red light in his hand, and the light solidifies into a bright green apple, which he hands to her.
She smiles slightly and eats the apple with one hand while still snuggling him with the other arm.
She looks up at him, cheeks lightly flushed.
"I--guess I'm done not being allowed to do things, too."
