Ev wakes up Wednesday morning feeling overall the same as he has for the past few days.

Pretty terrible.

He's at least not got a cold anymore – it seems to have cleared up overnight, fortunately – but he's still pretty pissed about the fact that vampires exist and he got bit by one.

There was a huge fucking bus crash yesterday – wasn't that fun to find out about – and quite a few people he knew are now dead. That is also just fucking perfect. He absolutely adores it when people he knows die.

Now he has school. So he gets up and grabs a set of clothes for the day, and walks over to the bathroom. He pushes the showerhead to the side, turns it on to warm up, and then checks himself over in the mirror – he's pretty sure there's something different about him today but he can't seem to tell what.

After a minute, he decides the water's probably hot enough, so he takes his clothes off and steps into the shower.

okay that is VERY HOT WATER OF PAINFUL PAIN

--not actually hot wait but yes on the PAINFUL PAIN OW HIS SKIN IS MELTING

He jumps back from the water as soon as it touches his skin and makes a pained sound – what the fuck was that – then looks at his arm, shaking it to try to flick the water off. Noticing that the burning continues, he grabs his towel and tries to rub the liquid off him.

That is ALSO PAINFUL because he is scrubbing at MELTING SKIN that peels off in disgusting chunks but at least it gets the liquid off!

His skin is fucking melting what the fuck.

Okay, he might be making quite a bit of noise at this point – his skin is melting, he's allowed to scream a little.

Does the pain lessen when the liquid is off? Obviously it's still terrible because his skin has melted off but is it at least no longer melting?

It is no longer melting (OW) and in fact seems to be noticeably healing up, tender pink skin regrowing over the melty (OW) parts of his arm.

Okay what the fuck ow.

He waits for it to heal a bit and ow. Might be waving his arm around a bit to try to stop the burning pain, but if this irritates the melty bits then he will definitely stop, ow.

Yeah anything touching the melty bits including air moving too fast is a definite OW. Skin is not supposed to be melty.

It continues healing apace, though. It doesn't look like it's even going to scar or anything.

… Does he need to scrape off the melty bits so it can heal properly or is it neatly subsuming and/or removing that for him?

(Ow.)

It seems to be subsuming most of it and letting the rest peel off into flakes that can just be brushed off the surface of his skin.

....and healed.

Ev shudders a little bit but brushes the skin off.

… He'll try the faucet on the sink. And tentatively touch the stream of water with his hand. In case this faucet also dispenses acidic water-like liquid.

Tentatively, so it only got the tip of his finger, but he does pull his hand back, because ow.

He gets dressed anyway and goes downstairs, planning to tell his mom about it, when he notices that she's rinsing her hands in the water.

Okay, that's weird, but maybe the water is somehow different. … He waits until she's done and then taps it, because apparently he's in the mood for possibly torturing himself.

Are you fucking kidding him?

He hisses a bit and pulls his hand back. He can't even fucking do anything to fix this because waving his hand around just makes it more painful!

His mom notices the reaction and turns to face him. "Are you okay?" she asks, frowning a bit worriedly.

"Uh," he starts, biting his lip a bit. "Yeah, sure."

She frowns a bit more but continues with what she was doing previously.

And now it would appear it's time for Ev to have breakfast. Of cereal. And milk. Which presumably has water in it. And is burning him despite his mother being fine.

He gets the cereal out of the cupboard, pours it into a bowl and fetches the milk, then starts to pour it a little, and because he apparently hasn't learnt his lesson yet, he sees exactly how painful this is.

Or, you know, maybe the water's just being coincidentally weird when he's around it.

The milk: is fine. Milky. Cool. Possibly water just hates him.

… And if he tries drinking some of the milk, does it also not hate him? Does it continue to not hate him for the next thirty seconds?

waaaaait...

He doesn't seem to have developed any sudden lactose intolerance.

How fortunate for him.

In that case, he will eat breakfast and hope that the milk doesn't suddenly decide that it needs to destroy his stomach.

His breakfast continues to be the normal degree of edible.

Wonderful.

And if he goes to rinse out his bowl, does he have to be super careful not to get splashed by the water, or has the weird acid-water thing stopped?

He does indeed need to be super-careful. The weird acid-water doesn't show any sign of damaging the cereal bowl, though.

… None at all?

Nooope. Not even the last soggy flakes of cereal in it.

Okay, well, he will just… leave his bowl on the side, sorry mom, and… go to school, he supposes.

Well, this is frustrating.

A teacher's standing at the door letting people know that everyone's first class is canceled in favor of an assembly and pointing people in the direction of the gym.

People are loitering in the hallways talking, but the atmosphere is pretty subdued.
