Born Taldaris, second of two Taldane monarchs to bear that name, Czaszar inherited the title of Emperor at an early age, whereupon he began carrying out sterling reforms to fix the country and also incidentally turned himself into a lich.

The entire rest of his life has been one endless set of attempts to retake Taldor, even though this is obviously stupid. The tiny country of Videk (presently a Galtan satellite, just off the right edge of most maps of Avistan) owes its existence to one of them.
