A world in which the median person is st753m: aromantic, asexual, conflict-avoidant, high anxiety, tokophobic, etc.

People began existing a few thousand years ago, where around 3 billion people were generated magically with preexisting knowledge of trades and technology at early industrial revolution level, along with basic shelter and supplies. Many of the small towns they formed failed, and the current population are descended from those who managed to thread the thin line between driving people away and failing to produce a next generation.

The world has modern technology and a population of 1.4 billion humans. The population is scattered in independent but cooperating city-states. Much of their current research focus is on life extension technologies. Space exploration is relatively minimal, though robotic mining is being done on the moon which has a decent supply of orichalcum, which is valuable enough per ounce to be worth the expense.

The planet is recognizably Earth, though does have a magic system. A very rare metal called Orichalcum is found in a series of craters dating back to approximately the point where humans appeared. When alloyed with another metal and shaped into an object, the object has a magical effect. Artifacts copied sufficiently closely via casting will have the same effect. Each valid alloy has a different theme to the possible effects it can cause:
