This appears to be a desert island. It has the classic single palm tree, enough space to imagine a little shack onto if there were more building materials, sand, and shellfish. There are other islands visible in the distance and some remarkably big ?birds? in the sky.
Tedd wakes up in the sand when the morning sun starts to shine in his face. He has no idea where he is. He fell asleep in his lab last night. He's still in a labcoat and wearing his magitech glove which he uses to enchant magic items. [1]
He could be here for any number of reasons. The top hypothesis is immortals meddling with his life again. But more information is needed.
Tedd 'looks' at the giant birds. [2]
[1: these magic items are mostly shapeshifting related.]
[2: Ted can check for magic and gain information about it by 'looking]
The birds are not magic all by themselves. But one of them is doing a little magic! It's changing the temperature where it is, apparently to make a thermal to get higher up.
Oh, they've noticed him! Six of them turn his way.
They're not birds, they're winged humanoids, turns out.
In addition! They have brown-and-white-and-grey wings with pretty markings, and, as he can see when they land, claws, and they aren't wearing much.
One of them sings him an eight-note little song and they look at him expectantly.
Tedd considers imitating the song back, but settles on: "Hello, I am Tedd." He points to himself as he says his name.
They start singing at each other with excited giggling, at that. Then one of them starts singing and another one speaks over them:
"Hello Tedd! I am Hassi. What happened to your wings?"
"Ahh, good, you speak English! I haven't acquired a winged form, yet. Where am I? I don't know how I got here."
"We don't speak English, Nunla is translating. You're on this island. I don't think it has a name..."
"Well, thanks to Nunla for translating. I come from Moperville, which is in the midwest of America."
"I don't know how I got here. Can you tell me what you do know about geography? Sketch me a map of the largest area you know?"
"What you a what?" giggles the person he's talking to. "We're from that beach over there -" point, "and I've been to one that way once to swap eggs," point.
