"If you can't, I'll start on travel to other worlds once I've got immortality. Or I could do duplicating the fountains and then travel to other worlds and then immortality, if you want, but - I kind of don't want to go near your world until I've got immortality."

"That's...fair. I just--I want her back sooner than that, I want her back now--"

Hug. "I want you to have her back. I just - also don't want to turn into a giant ball of fire and die because somebody cast the wrong spell."

"Mhm." So much snuggle.

"To be fair someone casting Mordenkainen's Disjunction is really really rare."

"We don't actually know that that's the only way to accidentally turn things into giant balls of fire."

"...True." Sigh.

Snuggle.

"I just--my baby, my baby, my baby..."

"What if I'm too late, what if they find her an adoptive family, I lost the others what if I lose her too--"

He cuddles her and pets her hair.

She slowly calms down. "I love you," she says eventually.

"I love you too." Pet pet.

"...I held her all of once, right after she was born."

Snuggle.

"They had a wet nurse lined up but babies are hungry right when they're born. They put her at my chest and I held her and nursed her and kissed her on the top of her little head and told her to be good for them, I couldn't be a mother to her and I was sorry for it but I was sure she would grow up to be someone amazing."

He holds her and pets her hair.

"I love you," she says again after a little while. "I really do."

"I love you too." He kisses her forehead.

"I feel vaguely annoyed with myself for interrupting the sexiness but not enough to try to go back to it instead of doing cryptography. I need to be moving towards getting her back right now."

He smiles, and kisses her forehead again.

"...If you get plane shift before I've got immortality, I'll figure out duplicating the fountains the fast way. So you can take them with you just in case."

"The fast way?"

"I usually do spell design the slow way because it's safer, but there's a fast way. I don't do it on complicated projects without a very good reason, because once I start I can't stop until I'm done, not even to sleep, and if I made a habit of holding large amounts of power for several weeks straight every time I wanted something done in a hurry, things around here would be on fire a lot more often. But duplicating the fountains will be much quicker than immortality, immortality would take at least a month."
