Well it seems like it would piss off, like, everyone.

I think that depends on what kind of people you meet and how you relate to them! I agree that a lot of people have trouble with teaching someone who learns much faster than they did, but some people really like it, and even when they don't, being careful with their feelings can still help a lot.

…Okay.

She gives Anything You Can Do a star, after a moment’s thought.

Then she looks at the next option.

She re-reads it.

She marks it with an exclamation point.

I'm glad you're finding things on the list that excite you!

Is there anyone who doesn't take this one???

Different people want different things! Some people prefer to have a very stable and familiar experience of the world.

But...but...being things...

Being things can be fun for some people! Personally I prefer being a notebook.

Okay that's fair but wouldn't it be cool to be, like, a notebook AND a note-taking scroll AND a day planner AND a cookbook and...

I am like...65% joking there.

Sometimes I'm scroll-shaped! And sometimes I manifest as an intangible cosmic abstraction. But I'm always a notebook.

Well, I can't be intangibly cosmic without...well I guess there could easily be other powers for it. Anyway, you're right, I shouldn't be judging other people's choices.

She moves on. Checks Snowglobe.

...

She moves Anything You Can Do up from a star to a checkmark, and checks Unleash the Magic. Quite emphatically.

You have? So may cool powers?

I'm so happy you think so! ♡

...I feel like an object lesson to myself because part of me is like "Why would anyone NOT take Soulbound?" and part of me is like "Actually gluing things to my soul sounds like a huge commitment that I should think about."

It does only glue things to your soul (what an evocative phrasing!) if they really truly feel like they should be part of yourself. But I do see what you mean.

I totally get that! And yet, I am asking myself, "Do I want to be a person who has physical objects glued to her soul at all?" And I think I am coming down on the side of yes, but the fact that I have to think about it at all gives me perspective on why someone would choose not to take Dragon Fairy Elf Witch.

She gives Soulbound a star, because even if she is willing to be a person who glues stuff to her soul, it's still not as appealing as, like, Snowglobe.

That makes a lot of sense!

Personal Space...wow, Personal Space totally gets an exclamation mark.

Closed Book gets a check mark. Indelible gets a check mark She oohs over Iron Will a bit, but ultimately gives it only a check mark.

...It Gets Better gets several exclamation marks.

I'm not making a new tier I'm just enthusiastic.

Understood! ♡

Soooo, do Star-Straightened and/or The Great Equalizer have a story behind them, or...? They smell like they have a story behind them.

I think The Great Equalizer sounds like it has a story behind it, but I don't have any specific memories of people I've talked to before because of nonlinear time and privacy reasons, so I don't know for sure.

That's fair. I figured you might remember if there was a story or not without remembering the story but valid to not.

On to the Power of Friendship section.

...

When it says "not mind control, and not blocked by effects that block mind control," does that make them actually not mind control other than in the sense of getting around such defenses???

It means that they when they affect people's minds, they don't do it using any specific mechanism, so effects that are supposed to stop people's minds from being affected don't work on them. They do still affect people's minds, although there are options to change that later on, and even by default your powers will always prefer to do things in ways that don't make you uncomfortable.

Mind controlling my friends sounds pretty uncomfortable!

Ookay. Is this section going to have anything worthwhile in it, let's go.

Mysterious Allure: No.

Captive Audience: ...Sort of tempting, actually, but still no.

Blackout Binge: Heeeellll no.

Disney Princess: Oh hey this one's fine actually! She is okay with mind-controlling animals. She almost gives it a check just for being a good thing in this section but stops herself and gives it a star instead.

...Ooh, Where The Heart Is and Cotton Candy seem. Really good actually. Effie is in favor of people having happy endings! Unhappy endings are so overrated. Effie bumps Disney Princess up to a check just for Cotton Candy's sake. Where The Heart Is only gets a star but Cotton Candy gets a check.

Musical Number...

Do Musical Number and Angelic Tones go together as well as it seems like they would?

They go together really well!

She wavers and then gives it a spiral. It would be cool, but it would also be mind control.

Best Friend.

Bestest Friend.

Ascended Friend.

...

So it turns out I have some questions about the Best Friend family of powers.
