The Valar announce that they've done as much as they can in Singularity (they can't bring back peoples' babies in that critical period either, but they can get them earlier versions) and are setting up portals between there and Sanity as soon as they are confident they've cleaned up the plague. A bunch of Elf architects have this wild idea for a fivedimensional city where alternating intersections are interdimensional portals between various Valinors and they get eagerly to setting it up.
Oh, it shouldn't take me very long, I can do five hundred things at once. But if you want I can come find you again in ten minutes.
It seems disingenuous to frame this as having to do with what I want.
I apologize! I would feel more badly if you were claiming you didn't modify a bunch of people without consent.
I don't really want to discuss that with someone whose interest in the matter is as yours seems to be.
The angel sighs.
(Meanwhile, the fairy is still hiding in his house and the arson angel is still bawling in his cave.)
She informs them too of the revised system for handling of daeva accused of crimes in other jurisdictions!
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH," says arson angel.
Fairy continues to ignore her. His girlfriend makes what is probably a rude gesture.
Well soon she'll have it set up and then she will consult her soul alt and then -
- all three of them are in a different location! It's a fairly boring planet with no atmosphere but a portal to downtown Tirion. There's an antimagic field around the portal.
There! she says pleasedly.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH,"
wails the arson angel.Jake yelps and tries for altitude to see where he is.
What? What! I was perfectly civil! What is this! exclaims the cosmetic angel, affronted and alarmed.
You were! But you wanted to know why you could trust me when I said the only binding would be 'don't take more summons', and the best way of demonstrating I could think of was demonstrating that I do not need you to take a summons for any conceivable purpose. If you go over there it's a portal to one of my cities, but your magic doesn't work. With that demonstrated, I will put you back now -
- and she does, and leaves some of her attention there -
- and I'll set up a summons for you, how about that.
I intend to build trust the more conventional way, but I need to start somewhere.
Elsewhere she asks Ambela to ask Cam about bindings for rerelease into Heaven.
Cam emerges from his room on request. "I've been doing slightly more elaborate bindings than not taking summonses. They could get Milliways doors," he says, "in theory."
He shows her what he's been doing for their syncing circles; it's worded to confine the daeva to their home realms.
I can let you watch your summoner draw the circle, if you want, Varda tells the salon angel helpfully.
The angel reads the binding and glares at Varda and appears when summoned and marches through the magic door back into Heaven.
The arson angel is absolutely miserable with terror.
Jake is trying to escape and stymied by the moat.
Well. Jake can go through the moat if he wants, he'll just have to walk. She'll leave some attention here in case either of them want to talk with her.
