The Valar announce that they've done as much as they can in Singularity (they can't bring back peoples' babies in that critical period either, but they can get them earlier versions) and are setting up portals between there and Sanity as soon as they are confident they've cleaned up the plague. A bunch of Elf architects have this wild idea for a fivedimensional city where alternating intersections are interdimensional portals between various Valinors and they get eagerly to setting it up.
"Woo!" She picks up her sign ("Mollie Clymer Died In Vain") and shows him to the subway, which takes them to the march site.
"She was next to a fairy who was threatening somebody and someone thought she was the summoner, because the summoner would have to be escorting the fairy, right, and killed her."
"Also the fairy didn't actually hurt anyone he just told off somebody for yelling at their kid."
Sigh. "When Ganymede was trying to arrest me for the vlog I thought about showing up for the trial unbound with my summoner back home in Hazel but Cam said probably hundreds of people would die in riots. I'm not going to risk anybody but - that's not a very stable way for the world to be, at all, dunno how to make it better..."
"My brother's boyfriend, he grew up here - he's a demon now - and he pays a lot of attention to daeva incidents and stuff."
" - because people dying is bad and we want to know if there are better procedures or laws or whatever that would prevent it?"
"I think I'm the only demon to try the vlog thing and considering how many people tried to kidnap me as a result I sorta wouldn't recommend it. Cam's cool, though. He helped me through demon med school after I got this one horrible summons to the site of an accident and I decided I needed to know how to help people..."
"They don't, angels are better for most things you'd need to do, the emergency I got summoned to angels would probably still have been better but they didn't have a list of people with qualifications or time to wait for one. But we can do a fair bit if you're in a bind."
"Uh, one of the things I was learning how to do was safely administer drugs, the New Guinea summons there were people trapped under a building and we did amputations and replacements - which sucks but it works - blood transfusions you have to know exactly what you're doing, same with patching wounds, but it's possible -"
"Wow. Was it hard or is it easy if you're a demon since it's magic -?"
"The amputations were really easy, I didn't need to know anything at all about what I was doing for that. Just - that person should have a leg now. And I couldn't talk so I couldn't offer to give them painkillers first."
"Yeah. That's why I wanted to learn it, for the next time, so that if they did let me talk I could be sure I knew what to do -"
"We don't think anybody'll get hurt at this protest but if they did what do I need to do so you can do stuff?"
