There's not much left in the room now, just a desk, a (comfortable) chair, bottled water, and a computer monitor with Dragon's video avatar on the screen it.

"Do you know where you came from before this? Or what your name is?"

"If the rest of me has picked a name in the last eight minutes and thirteen seconds I don't know about it. I can pick one off my shortlist. Rubelite. I was in the fourth Presger system."

"Where is that generally - I haven't heard of the Presger before."

And neither has the Internet or the PRT, which is much more surprising.

"If I am guessing right the nearest star you have a word for in this language is Rigel."

Rigel is indeed a star, 870 light-years away.

"What's your guess?"

"I am guessing that this language calls that star Rigel and doesn't call the one that the fourth Presger system has anything besides some numbers."

"Rigel is a star 870 light years away - the language is English, though I think the names are standardized across languages. I'm not aware of any form of extraterrestrial life, much less one that appears human and knows English."

Though she's not completely discounting the possibility - most people think humans are the only intelligent life on Earth and they'd be wrong about that.

"Yes, I know it is English! I know a lot of languages."

"Only English and French for me, though I have good translation software. Are you from the fourth Presger system originally?"

"No."

"Where are you from originally?"

"That depends on what you mean."

"I'm mostly interested in whether you are originally from Earth - though I'm curious what the other options are."

"I have never been to Earth before."

"Well, welcome to Earth in that case! How did you end up speaking English if you haven't been to Earth before?"

"I have a lot of languages."

"Hm, the part that's confusing me is how you specifically have English - since I don't know of any way someone not from our planet or otherwise nearby could have learned it given the lack of previous documented extraterrestrial contact."

"I can imagine why that would be confusing."

"Would you rather I not ask you so much about your situation right now?"

"I don't rather that, but I don't know very much about my situation right now."

"I can give you an overview of what I know if that might help?"

"Yes please!"

"This is Earth, which is located around here," she says, bringing up relevant graphics on the monitor, "in the Milky Way. The year by our calendar is 2011. You are specifically located in the United States of America. Your outward appearance is of a human 20 to 30 years in age - where a year is 1/870th of the time it takes light to travel conventionally between our planet and Rigel."

"Several hundred thousand humans possess anomalous powers that vary wildly, though both teleporation and strange memory effects are plausible powers. I consider it plausible that you are such a human, though it's theoretically possible you could be from a different universe, a different time, or an alien civilization within our universe." 

"Huh, I was two whole decades off! I thought it was maybe the 2030s. I am from an alien civilization but I do not know for sure if it is in just a different time or also a different universe."

"It's possible my workshop looks ahead of my time? I have powers that help me with constructing advanced technology."

"I'm not entirely sure how I would check to see whether our universes differed - any historical events you remember that would have happened in the last couple of decades?"
