When Hyacinth comes home to her new apartment for the first time after a long day at university, it's to the sight of moving bots just finishing dropping off the last of her stuff and moving furniture into place. The full-immersion VR pod her parents gave her is safely hooked up in the pod room, her bed is in her bedroom, she has chairs and a desk and some bookshelves. Clothes are mostly still in boxes, waiting to be hung up in the closet. Holovid and a cozy chair occupy the living room. She doesn't have any food in the small kitchen yet.
Hyacinth smiles back. "Are you going to stick around, or are there more people to introduce?"
She gains a couple inches of height, and her hair shortens substantially, turning a slightly reddish black with vivid red tips. Her eyes turn silver, and she smiles cheerfully. "Hi there! I'm Ruby!"
"Thanks! Yours is really pretty too!" She bounces in place as she walks alongside Sin, almost vibrating with excitement.
Awww, how adorable. To think Sable had a person like this sharing the same brain as her...
"Enjoying CORA? I think Sable said something about your favorite build being different from the one you got — care to remind me what you'd prefer?"
"Oooh, yeah! I really like high speed combat and being a whirlwind of death to monsters — Sable calls me an adorable blender — but I also really like being a sniper especially if I can mix the two and dash back and forth with a scythe while mixing in rifle shots or sometimes even using recoil for mobility it's so much fun!"
"Ooh, cool! So you are another source of the Guns Fascination. Is that like a general survival thing too or?"
"Mhm partly that but also partly just because I love hunting monsters and mostly just because I really really love designing weapons and seeing other people's designs and the smell of cordite and the feeling of holding a shiny new blade I just forged or a gun I just built!"
"Uh huh uh huh yep if it has anything to do with making weapons I love it!" She bounces some more.
"Maybe we'll end up working together to produce enchanted weapons eventually? That'd be so cool!"
"Oooh it would we should totally do that either make friends with a blacksmith so we can borrow their forge or get a house and build a forge there that would be so cooooool!"
Get a house, huh...
She doesn't hate it.
"Yeah," she says a little more softly. "That could be really nice."
Suddenly it dawns on Ruby what she just said and she blushes vividly., giggling sheepishly. "Eheh, oops, um."
"It's okay. Give us — give me some time to think about it."
She takes a slow breath. Why did she say that...?
"I..." She looks away.
Ruby smiles warmly at Hyacinth. "No worries, take all the time you need." She holds out her hand, offering to hold hands with Sin.
And then she tilts her head a bit. "...'Us', though?"
"... I don't know why I said that any more than you do."
She rubs her forehead, then takes Ruby's hand.
Ruby's eyebrows go up. "Thaaaat might mean something. Well. Don't need to think about it now if you don't wanna."
She squeezes Sin's hand and keeps walking along.
"Yeah. Um..."
Hyacinth looks away. "Can we take a break for a little while? I should, like, eat actual food today and not subsist on nutrient goop for a whole week. You've all been wonderful and I will definitely be back, I just..."
She kicks a rock. "I think I need space to... process everything."
Ruby nods, smiles softly, and then bounces close to kiss Sin's cheek before stepping back and popping the folded-up tent into her free hand from their inventory. "Do what you need. We can wait here until you get back, or if you'll be a bit you can message us when and we'll meet you back here. Whatever works."
