"I sing, and compose songs - not well, as a hobby only - and I very much enjoy visiting a fair when I come upon one; they have the most interesting competitions to watch. And yourself?"

"I'm more into participating in the competitions than watching them."

There's that smile again. "Oh?"

(The fish smells done; the kobold goes to take care of it.)

"Yeah. I like to win at stuff. There's a couple of athletic leagues at the Temple I participate in."

His smile brightens. "Do you think I might be welcome to visit such  an event?"

"I don't see why not! How long are you staying?"

"I haven't the first idea." He grins as if this is good news. "A few weeks at least, I imagine, but if the portalmaker is inclined to assist my explorations -"

The kobold returns just then and distributes a portion of fish, wrapped in enough leaves to comfortably hold, to each of them. "I don't think I know the world well enough to answer that question. I haven't been asked to make portals for people to use, at least; dunno if there's a reason for that." She sits by Raafi's knee.

"Well, it's kind of a big galaxy and you can't do portals to places you haven't been. We've mostly got a pretty good transportation infrastructure already. Plus you don't like crowds, and there'd be crowds everywhere people'd want portals."

"I can do portals to places I haven't been if I know enough about them to find them with random guessing," she points out, "and if it's all places with crowds that makes them easier to find. I wouldn't want to do more than one every two or three days, but I still could."

"Oh right. Um. Hm. I don't know, then."

"On the other hand, I've been pretty busy, they might be waiting 'till I'm not to ask or something. Or maybe there's a reason; like I said, I don't know."

Shrug.

"Anyway Raafi, if you're going to be around that long there'll definitely be a couple of games you could come to."

"Excellent," he smiles. "I'll look forward to seeing you."

He dips his head to take a bite of his fish, and grins up at her.

Hee.

Nom nom tasty fish.

And so lunch is had, with tasty fish and plenty of eye contact.

"Have you any intentions for the afternoon?" asks Raafi, when all three are done.

"Nothing I can't drop if you're doing something more interesting."

"I suppose I shall have to arrange to be doing something interesting, then." He smiles. "Is there any place in particular that you would especially like to visit?"

"I haven't been back to Alderaan in a while. It's pretty there."

"Excellent," he beams, then to the kobold: "Milliways, if you please?"

She offers her hand, and he takes it and disappears.

"He's quite the charmer, isn't he?"

The kobold chuckles. "Yes; yes they are."

"What did you two do, when you met?"

"The person they told the story about, the one with the pet tiger, found me in Milliways, and when they saw that I was selling teleportation magic, they sent for Raafi. Teleporting is a big deal, there, Raafi's world is a little higher-tech than mine, but most people still walk everywhere or go on carts, and they have those other worlds to teleport to, too. And that's definitely something Fharlanghn's people are interested in, is making it easier for people to travel, so Raafi came and talked me into going with him, and I made a bunch of portals all over the place. It was a really fun year." She grins, thinking back on it.

"I bet. How long do you think it's going to take him to arrange to be doing something interesting?"

"Not -" he appears in the entry nook - "long. Hi." She grins at him, and he smiles back and sits and puts the folder he returned with on the floor by her; she picks it up and starts looking through the contents.

"You have wonderful taste, Ana, Alderaan sounds marvelous."
