"Yeah, it is."

Pat pat.

Ana has the kobold all figured out.

She scoots a little closer so she can reach Ana's hair to pet.

Yep. She does.

Ana is quite comfortable with passing the time until Master Satele is done like this.

The kobold has no objections.

Two hours later, Ana sits up.

"Master Satele's on her way."

The kobold stands and dusts herself off, and heads over to the entrance to wait.

Satele arrives shortly.

"I have secured the services of a construction company, Would you mind accompanying me to their headquarters to make a portal to the new world now, so that they may begin?"

Nod. "Sure."

She's less stressed by the crowd this time than any other so far.

There's lot behind the company's building filled with machinery. Satele gestures to the facing wall, which is taller than anything in the lot.

"They would like it over there, if that's all right. Once you have the first portal up, they will send a droid through to make a temporary wall to put the second one on."

The kobold nods, and goes to make the portal, using a nearby piece of stationary machinery to make a touch-and-password activation system like the game field has, and then steps through for a moment to make a similar obelisk on the other side, this one with a simple always-on portal back to the lot.

Then she returns and explains what she's done - they can open and close the portal with the words 'on' and 'off' in Basic, the kobold has picked that much up.

"Excellent. I will pass the word along. Our business here is finished, if you don't mind returning us to Tython."

And so she brings them back to the cafeteria.

It's probably dinnertime, by now.

Indeed it is! Master Satele nods to Ana and the kobold and goes away to do whatever inscrutable things Jedi Masters do.

Ana, predictably, goes to get food.

And the kobold predictably follows.

Once they're settled with their trays: "So that went well." Lean, grin. "I bet they'll have that list of students for me tomorrow, what do you think?"

"Probably. And we already know one name that's going to be on it."

"Yep!" Kobold: pleased. "I'm still working out the safety lecture, but we can get started right away with the special sense - you can't do much with just that, but it's the basis for everything else, and it's not dangerous." Hmm... "Want to see?"

"Yes!"

The kobold grins, takes a moment to deactivate one of her defensive spells (Ana will probably notice the specific mental act of intentionality), touches her hand, and trances.

Ana isn't immediately drawn into the trance, but there's a distinct sense of how she could do it, if she wants to. If she follows this new instinct, her mundane senses fade away, replaced by a disorienting jumble of sensations of all sorts, with only the barest hint of how, or even whether, they might relate to reality.

Ana takes a breath, close her eyes, and- follows.

This is weird...

It doesn't get any less weird, but as she pays attention, patterns begin to emerge. That steady change might be time, this cyclic one might be her breath, this other one her heartbeat. This set of sensations perhaps represents her emotions; this other set is very clearly related to her focus; this third set may relate to her thoughts. If she tries to move, even to twitch a finger, that provides a whole cascade of new things to experience; too many to make sense of the first time, but if she tries it a few times, she can get a sense for the patterns in that, too, to be able to determine what specific positions and movements look-sound-feel-taste-smell like to this new sense.

To start with, everything it shows her is about herself, but the instinct provides a sense of how to extend this new awareness through her surroundings as an intangible field - limited in volume, and limited by her ability to focus and direct it, but not stopped by anything else.

So weird...

But Ana has always been good at sifting information from chaos. She finds the patterns and orients herself by them. Once she has an idea of how her body and movements appear in the new sense, she tries to expand, to get back to some of the awareness she had of her surroundings. The kobold was touching her hand. Her hand is here. If she pushes her awareness out from there, can she find the kobold?

Yes, she can.

The sense offers her all the same sorts of information about the kobold that it does about herself, as she extends the field into her. She seems to be calm, with her attention mainly focused on one thing, and her thoughts are visible, but not interpretable.

Cool!

How much of the area around her can Ana get, if she stretches as far as possible?

Not very much at once; just a few cubic meters. But they can be a few cubic meters in any shape she'd like, so long as she has enough focus to keep the field in that shape. Extending a tendril to the next table over is trivial; examining the far wall of the cafeteria may take a couple tries - it's very easy to get disoriented, without her usual senses to help - but she can probably manage it.

Hm. That's not a whole lot.

Ana will practice folding the field into different configurations until she can reliably get to approximately where she wants to go. Can she touch two separate tables at the same time?
