Nod, hand - okay this isn't a huge crowd, it's like three tribes, they're just bunched up together - poof.

There are several stations set up around the edges of the room, processing people. They're efficient about it, there's not much of a crowd left. Ana flags down one of the workers and solicits a copy of the list of people they've identified. Comparing that to the Hutts' registry, it looks like they've got everyone.

Good. Hug!

The kobold wants to do a quick circuit of the room, to check to make sure all the organizations are okay and don't need anything else and also see what Raafi has to say about the slaves' general medical status.

They have this pretty much under control. There's a lot of chronic malnutrition, but no acute medical issues.

About as expected, good. She assumes they have a handle on the malnutrition but lets them know she has a friend who's an expert in that if they run into any problems.

And now for the slightly tricky bit: back to her planet to figure out what to do about the guards. She dropped them off on top of a pillar of stone in a section of badlands; it's early evening there, warm but not dangerously so, and she set out bottled water and enough packaged foods to last them a few days, just in case.

She also cleared out a cave under the surface of the pillar, with communication portals all set up and ready for her when she wants to talk to them. Which she doesn't, yet.

First things first, how's Ana holding up?

"That was... weirdly easy. Is it always like that for you?"

"For a first one, yeah, pretty much. They'll catch on after a few, probably, but even then it doesn't usually get much harder than that."

"Wow." Hugs. "You're so great!"

The kobold giggles and hugs her friend back. "You helped a lot, too. I wasn't expecting them to be quite that scared."

"Guards going poof is not really something they were expecting to happen."

"Yes," she chuckles, "but usually people are just happy about it. Maybe it's 'cause magic is so rare here but still exists in the first place, they know to expect some things but not that."

"Probably a factor!"

Grin.

"So what would the usual thing be to do with the guards, do you know?"

"Uh, not really. Probably shouldn't send them back, their boss is not gonna be too happy..."

Nod. "Yeah, and I'd rather they not tell anyone what they saw, either. All right, let's see what they want, and then we can figure out what we can do for them." She teleports them to the little room and activates the communication portals. "Hi, is everyone okay up there?"

"Who are you? Where did you take us? Those slaves are the property of Manju the Hutt, return them immediately!"

"The people I rescued are the property of themselves and no one else, but that's not your problem to worry about any more. I can't put you back where you were, and I really shouldn't leave you there very long; do you have any suggestions for what I do with you instead?"

A different speaker: "You can't put us back? What about my family?"

"I can probably go get your families, once we've figured something out."

"Oh, good."

"You expect us to just leave our whole lives behind us?"

"If you can convince me that it won't hurt the people I rescued today or anyone else I might want to rescue in the future, I can let you go home. But I don't think you can convince me of that, and it's better for you to have to start over here than for them to be left where they are. I'm sorry I had to take the choice away from you, though."

"You're going to get more people? Um. Can I help with that?"

"You slimy little traitor...!"

There seems to be a fight brewing.

Well. That one dude can join them in the little room, then. "Yes, yes you can."

"Oh. Um. Good. What should I. Do."

"Nothing yet, the people I'm working with will need a little while to take care of today's group before I can go out again. I'll show you around and set you up with a place to sleep and things when I'm done here."
