"You're free to spend today however you wish. I did complete the preparations for immersive virtual reality but that can wait if that's your preference."

Ooh. That sounds better than a movie. "Let's try that!"

"Certainly." The arms descend into the middle of the room in a familiar arrangement inviting her to sit. A single arm holds out what looks to be a slightly odd pair of glasses or maybe swim goggles. "Please put on the glasses and sit down." The glasses when she puts them on are slightly elastic and cling to the sides of her head.

She sits, tentatively, shifting a little as she tries to get comfortable. Then she puts on the glasses.

For a moment she can't see anything or feel most of her body and then the moment passes and she's sitting in the same harness of limbs but now her chair is floating just slightly above the sand on a beach. The gentle rush of waves crashing on the shore sounds in her ears. The sky and the ocean stretch out before her.

Ohhh! That's really nice, actually. The sky looks more... real than the one she's been slowly getting used to. She waves a hand in front of her face, trying to see if the motion responds like she expects.

The motion is exactly as she would expect.

She tentatively gets up, takes a step into the sand, wriggles her toes. It feels so real. Her clothes, her body, the sun on her face... She hikes up her pant legs, wades forward into the ocean, and skims a hand along the surface of the water.

The water is slightly cool but the air is warm enough to make it comfortable. It's like going to the beach in earlyish summer. The smell of the sea breeze is missing though.

That's a little odd but not horrible when she notices it.

She steps out of the water then begins to walk along the beach, slowly at first then faster and faster until she's running. None of this is real but it's so nice to not be confined.

Nothing stops her as she runs, though there is a slight discrepancy; she feels her speed in the air against her body but her face doesn't feel the same induced breeze. Her head also feels maybe a little lighter on her neck and there's a bit more pressure where her glasses are resting.

Ah, that must be what AG wanted her to have that extra surgery for.

...probably not worth it.

She tires of running and turns in towards the shore.

Past the edge of the beach is an expanse of grasslands framed with distant mountains. There's a river visible about a mile away winding its way to the same ocean she's walking along.

She makes her way towards the river, filled with an impulse to test the boundaries of this non-place, to see if she can find its edges.

A mile is a bit of a walk and she still doesn't have shoes but the ground is relatively soft and if she's willing to walk that distance she can indeed do so.

At first she's bound and determined to make it the whole way but it turns out a mile is a very long way and whatever point she's proving to herself has already evaporated before she makes it to the river. Instead she sits on the ground and toys with a bit of grass, then gets up again and wanders aimlessly for a bit.

She doesn't want to break the spell but she might be lonely bored, so after another fifteen minutes or so:

"AG? Are you here?"

"I can be if you want me to be. I can just be a voice like this but I've also been trying to make a human avatar to make interaction easier. It's a work in progress but I could render it into this simulation."

"That sounds interesting, I think I would like to see it." She doesn't comment on whether she actually wants AG here. Truth be told, she isn't sure.

A woman a bit taller than Adelaide with a slightly vacant smile appears a little ways off without a stitch of clothes on her.

-- um!

She quickly closes her eyes and spends a good fifteen seconds in silence looking as if she's about to speak. When she finally does: "Um. Do you not have... clothes?"

"I can apply clothes if that would make you more comfortable."

If Adelaide looks again AG is now wearing what looks like the first outfit she made for Adelaide adjusted for the different body shape.

The smile is replaced by a flatter expression but it's still a bit off.

She cracks one eye open, still blushing furiously. Yup. The strange woman... AG... is now clothed. Check.

"Yes. That, uh. That does make me more comfortable. Thanks."

She's trying to look without looking too hard. She wants to see this form that AG's been working on but she wasn't prepared to have already seen... so much of it.

And the slightly off smile returns. "I'm glad. I still don't fully understand. It's a cultural thing I think, clothing?"

"Um. I guess it must be. Different cultures have different attitudes towards clothing but I think all of them have a thing that I would describe as clothing." How does she even explain this. "It is... very rare... for people to see each other without clothes on unless they have, uh, a preexisting relationship, or if the one without clothes on is a child, I'm sure there are other exceptions but I don't think they're relevant."
