"Ophelia Vaudelle, Fatebinder.  Indeed I can, or more accurately, I can bring a group's overall physical ability to its peak, then keep them going, as fast as they can go, for as long as we're going, as the primary vector of increase - though should I be able to keep Haste up for everyone, that will very directly increase our overall speeds.  Would this be the group in question, then?"

A pale women with short auburn hair nods.

”It is.”

Thinking, thinking, thinking...

Averaging the individual variations between casters, Haste lingers slightly more than half the time it would take to cast again, unaugmented, and lasts for a duration of approximately three-quarters of a minute.  However, the important things to note in that statement are "unaugmented", and "average".  There are ways to accent most Sigils as one casts them such that it will last longer, and taking the time to work out two variants of the spell so that it is either going to affect the self or the other adds half again the strength, because you're able to focus it more precisely.  This does not even take into account the way that spells that are cast faster, somehow take less time to be ready to use again.

And Ophelia Vaudelle is, while not at the absolute peak of her generation, still very fast at executing the Sigils she knows.

That shaves off about a third of the dead-letter period to begin with, which makes the time requirements slightly more forgiving before one even takes into account anything that boosts spellpower - or duration directly.

Depending upon how the various modifiers interact with eachother, this means she can support three to four sustained castings of Haste, if she achieves the greatest known levels of effect and they stack together appropriately.  On the other hand, if she can Selfless+Limitless-Boundaries this, that might well get more effect per metaphorical ring spent.

She doesn't, however, have an unlimited capacity to hold the attention necessary to accent a spell, which will cause some problems if she tries to do everything at once.

Still, if she's careful, she thinks she can sustain two maximal modifier accents and Pride or Selflessness, or minor Limitless Boundaries.

The question of whether she could scrape together enough to cast with the full set is much less solid.

"Do any of you have enhancement spells, incidentally?  Anything at all that might help with any of speed or focus or memory in the sense of - holding many things in mind at thr same time, really, would be useful; I'm trying to eke out that last bit of edge I need to sustain Haste for the whole group, and I'm pretty sure I can, but it is a bit of a stretch and I want to stack the deck, as was.  If I do establish this it's going to require some pretty consistent formations, too, so - we're going to see how that goes for a minute.  If I can get everyone to line up, I'll tell you where, and then we're going to walk in a circle, see how that goes -"

Right.  Time to organize people.  Big tall guy, you go at the back of the party.  Everyone else is then promptly organized mostly by how close they're already standing to eachother, into - mostly, diamond shapes.  "And to make sure we keep in the formation as best we can, I have a bit of string, and if you stretch it out all the way between yourself and your neighbors that might end up being a problem; I'm really scraping the bottom of the jar to try to fit what I'm trying all on one spell in the first place, so the less I have to push the radius, the better.  If you have a lateral neighbor, hold hands or something if that helps.  The important thing is that we all stay close, so that I can focus just on the spells instead of having to wrangle everyone into place as we go.  Okay?"

A yellow haired man named Yarrow speaks up.

”Can you enhance horses?” He looks over the group, judges weights. “Rosethorn and Comet can probably share a horse, if you can enhance stamina as well as speed.”

Rosethorn frowns.

”Someone else will have to carry most of my supplies.”

"...Can I enhance horses...Vigor definitely, Haste I'm not so sure about - you're...proposing, what, riding them directly?  It's something that's ever come to mind as a possibility, from the fact that chariots exist, but I've never seen it done, nor do I know how to do it.  That also adds to the distance problems, too."

“Umm, yes. Riding horses. I guess if you can’t ride that doesn’t work. With, haste, you called it, can you keep pace with a horse? If the horse can keep moving for longer, then they just needs to move much faster than a person on foot, not faster than a horse can normally move.”

"I've not exactly ever tried to race a chariot, but I wouldn't put money on it.  Are the ways you control a riding horse similar to those?  I expect the rest I can likely pick up as we go, if we must, and we can make do with just Vigor enhancing our speed in that case, being as horseback is likely even faster than horses that are pulling things."

“I’m not sure what a chariot is, to be honest.”

“You control a horse mostly with your feet, actually, but horses that don’t get skittish around mage work are well trained.”

He thinks for a moment.

”Diamond doesn’t act up, isn’t skittish, won’t throw you off, and will follow the horse in front of her. If you can stay on you’ll probably be fine.”

”How is your balance?”

"If it's not good enough I have a spell for that.  Though I'm pretty good at keeping it to start out with.

"...A chariot is one of the sorts of things you can hitch a horse to to have them pull it.  Surely you have something like that.  ...Not the time, moving on.  I should at least know how to handle the reins, if they work similarly; it's come up before.  The Empire just hasn't really had the feed to keep all that many beasts stabled for purely transportational use, not after the Midwife's famine, so even if we do have riding horses somewhere I expect they're pulling chariots.  Though given the utter paucity of them amongst the best-equipped forces of the Empire, who even knows anymore?  ...Though I don't think they'd work well with a composition of entirely heavy infantry, so I suppose it may not have been worth the logistics.  ...Anyway, mysteries that don't need solving aside - Horse, please.  Then we can see about how to arrange ourselves to ensure everyone keeps covered."
