jagged stone from exalted lands on arabek!conrad and damian

Korrado's domain is a mountain chain, curving slightly around Damianos's plains to the south. It is also bordered by Raezenoth's desert to the north, Perinixu's springs to the west, and Varkalosix's ocean to the east.

Korrado does not have beauty as one of His concerns, except insofar as Him caring about it is important to maintain His alliance with Damianos. Still, there is beauty in His domain. Beauty in the works of His followers, certainly, but also in His landscape. It is the stark beauty of the bare frozen mountains, of sharp jagged cliffs blanketed with pure white snow, bone-chilling winds blowing through and around them. It really is very beautiful if not for the fact that it is terribly inhospitable – most of His followers live on the base of the mountain, or in deep caves, where the lava flows of His volcanoes provides natural heating.

One of Korrado's blessings is resistance to the mountain elements: protection against cold and thin air. Two things which can be found at the highest peak in His domain.

Jagged Stone Breaks the River’s Flow is somewhat disoriented! She was not, previously, in the mountains, although she’s not inclined to complain about that part. Really, teleportation to unknown places is one of the better outcomes of fighting a higher-essence Lunar. She’s not even dead!

She notices the cold and thin air, passingly. It’s a bit uncomfortable. If she’s out here for too long, she’ll get frostbite, but she grew up in the North, and Exalts tend to be hardy.

Are there signs of civilization anywhere?

Nope! It is just barren wasteland as far as the eye can see. There are no paths or signposts.

Well. At least she has a cloak.

Walking it is! She’ll try to go vaguely downhill, but she’ll really just go with whatever path is less likely to end with her falling to her death.

She reminds herself that she’s not dead, so really this is surpassing expectations. She recites the ingredients of every alchemical formula she knows. She recites poetry. She’s quite bored.

The harsh blowing wind stops suddenly, and now there is a swelling of magical energy in the vicinity. It is now very, very quiet.

Then, a sourceless masculine voice. It speaks in all the languages Jagged Stone knows, and many more which she does not, all at the same time.

"Who are you? Where did you come from?"

Oh she wants that trick- not important.

She bows lightly. “I am called Jagged Stone Breaks The River’s Flow, honored spirit. I arrived by accident, and did not intend trespass. I am originally from the Denult Mountains in the North-east, but arrived here from the Eastern forests.”

Korrado doesn't care about obeisance, and it is clear that Jagged Stone is intending to be so, but He is way more than just a spirit!

Also, He has no idea where the Denult Mountains are, and He thinks His acolytes and priests have compiled good cartographic information. It must be very far away.

"I am Korrado, god of the volcanic forge. Welcome to My domain, Jagged Stone Breaks The River's Flow.

You arrived at the highest peak of My mountains. It is a very inhospitable area, and typically the only ones that venture here are pilgrims, who have prepared for the elements."

Oh good, something normal!

“Thank you for the welcome, honored god. While I not opposed to pilgrimage, I have not prepared for such a journey. Would you point me towards the nearest settlement?”

"I will direct you to My temple here, which is also the nearest settlement, if you tell Me about yourself and where you come from."

She hesitates. It's not really safe - but then, he's a major god, with a temple. (He's?) likely not more fond of the Immaculates than she is.

"I am a Solar Exalted, of the Eclipse caste, and normally work as a Thaumaturge, travelling where I may. My homeland is much like this land, but more forested, with tall pines on all but the highest peaks. What in particular would you wish to know?"

He can get what Jagged Stone means by those words, since He can get the meanings people intend to convey, but He'd prefer she explain in her own words. She's definitely not talking about acolytes and blessings.

Ah, so it's taiga. He wonders whether it's unclaimed land. His domain doesn't support agriculture, except near the base of the mountain chains, where people grow tea and rice. It's little compared to the output of Damianos's domain.

"Follow the path, and it will lead you to the Temple at the Peak." And in front of her, a thin stream of lava will bubble up from the surface, creating a guide for her to follow. It's also warmer now, with the lava and the lack of wind. The thin air is still there, though.

The lava doesn't follow the fastest route, since it avoids passing through areas that would require climbing or rappelling, or which are too narrow such that the lava would be uncomfortably close.

"What do you do as a Thaumaturge?"

She mostly follows the path, but not in any precise way. She jumps over twenty-foot gaps, runs on ledges that really shouldn’t support her weight, and doesn’t seem to even consider losing her balance to be a concern.

”Well, I specialize in the Arts of Alchemy*, Spirit Beckoning**, and Weather-Working***. I’m solidly competent in Husbandry****, and I dabble in Enchantment*****.”

* potions/medicine/chemistry

**Something with gods??? Small ones??

***Weather prediction and manipulation

****Basic rituals for life, wards to keep away pests, other pesticides, animal breeding

*****Magical items?

In that case, Korrado will speed up the rate at which the lava guide generates, and also have it pass through areas that would require climbing or rappelling or which might be precarious or have unsure footing, if it is faster.

"I am most interested in Spirit Beckoning and Enchantment. Tell me more about that."

She isn’t going faster per se, but she’s definitely not concerned by the terrain.

”I’m not sure what you’re asking, Korrado of the Volcanic Forge. Do you want details on rituals? Book-theory? My particular expertise in those fields?”
