Leareth is experimenting with a new form of the gates spell
is having a bad day
He is as usual arguing with his niece Queen Jasnah Kholin
She snaps here scech book clesrd and starts to rifle frow here pile of papers
"Right away your Grace"
He is in fact in a large meeting room lit by several large glowing gemstones and containing.
A large and incredibly detailed glowing map of a continent Leareth doesn't recognise.
A young soldier (possibly an officer).
A much older (50s or 60s maybe) soldier who holds himself like a general.
A young red headed noblewoman holding a stack of papers and seeming to attend to,
A 40-something woman wearing a crown.
Another noble woman who seems to be a similar age to the general
And a man with white hair wearing all black who is the only person not at all surprised see Leareth
Also everyone here is very tall with the young woman being approximately Leareth's height and everyone else taller up to the young soldier who is nearly 7-ft tall
YES,
The man wearing all black is approximately the most magical things Leareth has ever seen both in terms of power and variety and none of it looks anything like any kind of magecraft Leareth has ever seen before
His body is possibly actually made of magic although it is honestly hard to tell underneath everything else
He is also the only person within Leareth's range who's mind is shielded
One part Leareth can make sense of is a incredibly strong connection between the man and some kind of magical construct attached to a nearby wall it seems a bit but not very much like some kind of elemental
As for the rest of the room
The large crystals have a level of power more akin to a Leyland then a magelight; and everyone in the room appears to be wearing a pouch of similar although much less Powerful energy sources
The map is of course magical but again doesn't look like any illusion Leareth has ever seen the 'spell' appears to be being maintained by both the young noble woman and the old general
Also everyone except the older woman have connections similar to the man in black however his is apparently the weakest the strongest belonging to the woman in The crown
Also of note the general's connection head straight through the floor and continues going down past the edge of Leareth's range
Based on the locations of minds and magic sources they appear to be near a top of a tower the base of which is outside of Leareths range
Also there is a person partially made of magic??? And with a connection to a maybe elemental thing hiding in one of the rooms air vents
The old man shouts something in a language Leareth doesn't understand and sheaves his sword
Ok Radiant this is your domain
As mistress radiant takes over Shallan subconsciously lightweaves and illusions about herself to sharpen her features and slightly increase the size of her bust (if Leareth magical sensors didn't call attention to it he wouldn't notice the difference)
Radiant stops sending stormlight to the map and summons Pattern as a shardblade
In addition to the young noblewoman's illusions? Leareth magical sensors notice
All of the the elementalish things in (except the one connected to the man in black) in the room become glowing magical weapons in the hands of the people they're connected to
additionally a large number of smaller elemental things briefly appeared in the room before fusing into to a full set of glowing plate covering the woman with the crown
And everyone with a connection including the person hiding in the air vent is drawing in magical power from their pouches visible to the naked eye as glowing white smoke
Navani runs for the door to warn the the rest of the tower of Intruders.
A few short years ago she would have got the guard but if 4 Knights radiant one of whom is in plait can't stop this stranger there's nothing to ordinary soldiers can do
Leareth quickly mind speaks to everyone except the person in the air vent <my apologies I was experimenting with a new form of gate spell and arrived here by accident my name is Leareth I don't mean you any harm>
He also puts his hand up in what base his experience he's pretty sure is a universal gesture
frowns and waves to his fellow knights hold there position
Then with his sword drawn but not pointing at Leareth he stepps behind him and places a hand on his shoulder
Magic runs down his arm and into Leareth's shoulder forging a connection between them
Dalinar let's go and says in a language Leareth hasn't heard for hundreds of lifetimes "hello Leareth where are you from? and are you trying to build an oath gate?"
Between being at the top of a incredibly magically powerful tower and hearing the language of his long dead home Leareth is having a remarkable hard time thinking what to do
