There's someone or something in the Dark Tapestry that's trying to open a door to Her divine realm. There isn't, like, already a closed door there that they're trying to open, it's supposed to be a new one. Yog-Sothoth has a thing for doors but He would just use a Gate. She'll allow it, it might be interesting and She wants to pay forward how She was allowed into Creation a few sidereal months ago.
A Distortion had offered Crow a Door "to an adventure," and who was she to refuse? Nothing was immediately on fire, she could afford to see what it was Laur had found.
A young adult with far-too-Blue eyes, hair that floats a little as though underwater, an eclectic collection of jewelry which is mostly entirely too many necklaces, and large corvidish wings on her back steps out through a door that was not there before. It closes behind her, and there was never a door there at all. She looks around.
There totally was a door there before. She remembers it. Anyway! There's a throne room, with a lot of devil-themed decorations on stuff, and a throne, with more of it, and also a winged cat-eared woman (not like Crow's, they're bat wings), like this:

"Welcome to Creation!" What's Crow's alignment? She's curious, curiosity might have killed the cat but she's already died once, so.
How strong is her aura? Is she Lawful Evil the way third-circle Chelish wizards are, or Lawful Evil the way Dispater is (He agreed to let the agathions evacuate everyone that wanted to leave Dis, and that's why He's still alive), or at one of the many many points in between?
In the many many points in between! She has an aura like maybe a mid-level adventurer? Or rather, Law like a mid-level adventurer and Evil stronger than that in a way that suggests maybe being empowered by something Neutral Evil.
Okay. How the..........Xovaikain? Yeah, Xovaikain is still bad. How the Xovaikain did the Dark Tapestry produce someone Lawful. She wouldn't have been that surprised by Good, everyone has a spark of Good inside them or so Sarenrae keeps telling Her, but Law?!
(Zon-Kuthon doesn't count, He started out Chaotic so being Lawful was actually the Chaotic option).
"I'm Asmodeus. Welcome to Hell! Nessus, specifically. How did you manage to make Lawful in the Dark Tapestry?"
...moderate concern.
"What do you mean, the Dark Tapestry? And - clarify what you mean by Lawful, please, though I suspect I can guess."
"Ah - my planet of origin calls itself Earth, though I do suspect I'm rather further away than that, I was offered an adventure - by a friendly Distortion if that means anything to you, though I don't really expect it to. Would you also clarify what you mean by this place being called Hell?"
Is the being speaking English or is Crow's Eye necklace translating from something?
'The being' is speaking Celestial, and has truespeech. English is a random language on Jasoom and random galactic languages are handled by truespeech.
"In order: The Dark Tapestry is where you came from, this is Pharasma's Creation and things that don't play by Her rules get squished. She gets off on sorting things into boxes, not boxes in general just these specific nine of them, on two axes, Good-Evil and Law-Chaos, with Neutral for each. I'm Chaotic Good, you are Lawful Evil unless something is spoofing Me, which is basically impossible. You also seem to be empowered by something Neutral Evil. Hell is the Lawful Evil afterlife, most people who come here decide to move to the Neutral Good one pretty fast. What's a Distortion?"
She blinks slightly at the declaration that she's Evil, in a way that might be readable with sufficient Sense Notice as aich but yeah okay fair.
"That all tracks, I think. I am an empowered servant of - a couple of different Fear Powers actually but mostly the Vast, and I am unsurprised that the Powers of Fear count as Evil. Relatedly, while under ordinary circumstances I go out of my way to Feed on rapists and suchlike, I do Feed on people's Fear, so I'm - honestly not really that surprised that I count as Evil either, under a system that's sorting such things. If Lawful is what it sounds like, that I'm very pleased about."
"A Distortion is a specific being of the Spiral - ah, most simply, the Spiral is the Fear Power of madness and lies as the Vast is the Fear Power of infinity and insignificance. They, among other things, go places with doors - you may have noticed the door that briefly existed to drop me here?"
"I would like more explanation of what it means to be Lawful, if you have it and are willing to share. Also, what is involved in playing by Pharasma's rules so She doesn't squish me?"
"Pharasma will squish you if you try to destroy Creation or something, but, like, I will too, I live here, she'll mind if you make undead or stuff but she isn't really very interventionist about that sort of thing. I am not the person to ask about Law, let me get Someone."
Iomedae? A Dark Tapestry horror wants to know what Law is.
Her anti-fear aura is turned off in case it messes with the whole Fear Power thing. She still doesn't experience fear, but everyone else can keep doing it if they were.
"Well, to start off you need to keep in mind that Law is a concept Pharasma made up that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with what people actually care about—"
"And there are a lot of things that affect whether Pharasma will judge people as Lawful that aren't very meaningful. The part of Law that actually matters, which is significantly narrower than Law-as-will-make-you-ping-Detect-Law, is about being the kind of entity that cooperates whenever possible, even with your enemies, as long as there's any way for you to both end up better off than you'd each be if cooperation was impossible. Or, more broadly, of having policies, not direct values, and only using values to set the policies. That includes always keeping your commitments, even when it's no longer in your immediate interests to do that, because the kind of entity that does that can be trusted to keep up their side of deals and that's necessary for a lot of them. It includes being able to not act on information you were given in confidence in any way, because if you're going to act on confidential information you won't get any of it. There are more complicated ways Law helps things but those are the really important ones."
Oh. Yes, yes that, the thing where if you can keep your deals you get to be a person who keeps her deals, the thing where if you don't tell people's secrets they'll be more likely to tell you them - Crow wants to cooperate, she wants it so badly, she's pretty much always willing to talk to everything, she would rather be having a diplomacy encounter, please, couldn't we have a diplomacy encounter instead, all the time -
She was right about Lawful being a thing she's very pleased to successfully be.
To Iomedae: " - thank You. I - who are You?"
To Asmodeus: "I'm not actually very Hungry right now - I wouldn't've gone on an adventure Hungry - but if it's cheap you could test it! I might or might not still be able to feel if it helps."
To Asmodeus: "Not that I'm noticing in this state, no, sorry."
To Iomedae: "It is very nice to meet You - triage?"
"Ah, and I'm Crow." She something-like-curtsies acknowledgingly, slightly flourishing her wings.
"You're welcome. So, there are a lot of Good gods who try to make things better, but a lot of them don't really try very hard to put their effort where it goes furthest. I'm the goddess of, instead, doing that."
Oh. Again, that's - yes, that's the thing, all shall be well and it's a mission statement more than it was ever a prediction and you do whatever will help with that the most - not a virtue Crow is in any way perfect at, not one she really tries for beyond her own people most of the time, but one she has aspired to at least as far as her own people, broadly defined, and recognizes further than that -
Crow fumbles for words, landing on a sort of awkward "...wow. I'm very glad You exist I think."
"So, on my world, there are Powers of Fear - the most common classification system has it as fifteen Powers and I'm likely to talk with that one as the default but I will note that this is understood to be somewhat-to-significantly humans-putting-things-in-boxes-y. As far as we know, only the Web is actually sapient in Her own right."
"The Powers are and are born of and are sustained by our Fear - the Fear of all beings, at least on my world, capable of feeling it. They sometimes empower items and places and people - I am one such empowered person - and empowered things have various abilities depending on thing and Power but everything empowered must Feed."
"This is, to be clear, as far as anyone knows all the supernatural my world has - it seems it is not so here."
"Yeah, that's not how things work here. What are the Entities, and which powers do they tend to grant?"
"The fifteen Powers in the common classification, and extremely short simplified summaries of what they're about, are:"
"The Eye, knowledge and sight."
"The Vast, infinity and insignificance - that's me!"
"The Spiral, madness and lies."
"The Lonely, isolation literal and metaphorical."
"The Buried, trappedness and suffocation - the metaphorical crushing weight of responsibilities is also Buried."
"The End, death."
"The Corruption, bugs and rot and disease and toxic love."
"The Web, connection and manipulation and control, also spiders mostly as an aesthetic - I actually have a touch of Web as well as Vast."
"The Hunt, chasing and being chased and failure at things that matter."
"The Slaughter, senseless violence and war."
"The Flesh, being made of meat or being food, also many kinds of dysmorphia."
"The Stranger, the uncanny and unknown."
"The Desolation, pain and loss and destruction, commonly associated with fire."
"The Dark, darkness and the things that hide in it, also being metaphorically 'kept in the dark.'"
"And the Extinction, the manmade end of the world, also high technology, sometimes also becoming obsolete."
