Quest initiated: Don't Jump The Laser Gun

Oliver Houston is... not ready to be told this. He'd believe you, for reasons not unrelated to his terrible secret. You should figure it out before spilling the beans; he'll thank you for that later.

Success: Oliver Houston has a substantially easier time helping you and vice-versa, unspecified bad things will not happen to him, +1 Perk Point.
Failure:
Oliver Houston freaks the fuck out, immediately offers to keep you in his house, unspecified bad things happen to him as a consequence of this, some of them will splash on you, your relationship route with him will suffer a serious delay.

...

...okay, yeah, the terrible secret was no way no how going to stay irrelevant, but like this? That sucks.

Can she believe this thing that he will thank her for it later.

...probably? Like, if she can't put some weight on its assertions she's flying incredibly ludicrously blind. Even the assertion that she could fix it if she, aware of its shenanigans, tried again and applied "My Mind to Control" to Oliver, ultimately stems from the Erogame, and there is no particular reason to believe that it's actually six smaller erogames in a trenchcoat or anything like that.

It looks like he heard something that left him satisfied with the explanation, calm, and sympathetic. Is it going to matter specifically what? ...Maybe not? It's most likely either a) not a real explanation, just pure straight up "you heard a good explanation" injected straight into his brain, or b) at least very much consonant with her real needs and ability to answer followup questions.

So.

"Thanks, I'm just, you know, glad to be indoors and stuff now."

"Yeah. I don't have any girl clothes but probably I'm, uh, sufficiently taller than you that my stuff would work fine? And you can stay here overnight. I have to warn you, my awake times are weird, I'm going strong for another five hours still."

"Soooo not complaining. I'm not picky about what I wear. Or even about to crash right here on your sofa, my sleep schedule's sort of up in the air."

"—oh I have a guest bedroom you wouldn't need to sleep here. Or, I guess it's more like an office but stuff can be moved. Um. I, uh, should tell my boss something's come up and take the rest of today off."

"You don't have to, I'll be good for the next while with snacks and like, maybe a spare notebook if you have one, I like journaling?"

"...I might have paper? I have a couple of tablets and laptop gathering dust in a closet if that could work, though, and I know some websites you could set up accounts at to save your journaling."

"If you actually have tablets going spare that will suit me fine!"

"Cool okay gimme a minute." Off he goes into a different door than the one he grabbed the coat from.

Does... she know what websites exist? She knows of some websites, but also, she didn't know about brainjacking brothels so she may not have up to date information. Well. She can find out, probably search functions existing is not imaginary.

Nah she totally seems to be equipped with explicit knowledge about websites. Google is definitely a thing, she knows about Netflix and Amazon and Facebook and Twitter. Unclear if there are websites a person like her having actually lived would know that she doesn't but at least she seems to have something.

He's quickly back holding a Samsung tablet that's booting up, which he immediately hands over to her.

"Thank you!"

"You're welcome! Let me know if you need any help with it."

"I will!"

Poke poke can she in fact use this are the websites she knows about all real and "still" there.

Yes to all of the above.

Cool. Does this tablet know....... what city she is in right now. Does it have... interesting results for the name "Imogene". Does it have... a word processor.

She is in a city called Norville in California. There are many people called that in the world but she can find someone called Imogene Chime with her face. Or, well, a slightly less pretty version of her face.

And yes the tablet has a handful of word processors, including a couple that permit the use of handwriting.

What can she find out about Imogene Chime?

She went to university at Norville U. She is 20. That's about it.

Well. Maybe she can swing by the university at some point - in a disguise, perhaps - and see if she can find Imogene's friends or parents or anything, if that ever seems like a good idea. It doesn't right now.

For the time being she has so much journaling to do.

Oliver... doesn't really know what to do. He feels like it would be Bad™ if he just left her to her own devices and went back to work, so he's messaged his boss to say he'd take the rest of the day off, but now she's writing on the tablet and... he doesn't have anything to do. Or anything to do that is Acceptable™ to do in company. So maybe he'll... use his phone? That seems okay? Aah.

Well, she has not had all that many total experiences, so she'll be done in under an hour and set the tablet aside with a sigh.

"Under an hour" still implies enough time that Oliver gets over his brainworms when absolutely nothing bad happens and by the time she's returned to the world of the living she'll find Oliver sitting in the corner of the sofa, legs brought up to his chest and chin resting on his knees, engrossed by something on his phone looking totally at ease
