"Mmhmm.  Security is important."

"Especially to Sith, yes."

"Mmmmm."

He seems content to sit quietly.

...Yeah, this is nice.  Diana will probably eventually fish out a book she was reading (from home), to finish it.

He eventually takes a datapad out of a compartment hidden in his plating and begins writing something; Daisy checks on the yogurt drops and starts straightening the cabinet.

Diana directs an inquiring noise at Nine about that!

"I'm writing a novel."

"Ooh.  What's it about?"

"It's a murder mystery, but it's about the droid perspective on human society."

"Ooooooooh.  I hope I'll get to read it when it's done.  Who's the protagonist?"

"It's from the perspective of the servant of the detective investigating the case, but he considers the detective the protagonist, so it goes back and forth depending on who's in the scene."

"Mmhmm!  Ooh, I do have the collected Sherlock Holmes...Would you like to have some detective novels from my universe?"

"Oh, yes please."

And he can have the entire Sherlock Holmes collection, some Hercule Poirot books, the subsegment of Discworld focused on the Watch (and the rest of the series, for that matter), a bunch of Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew books of various epochs...

He accepts the file transfer and sits quietly for several minutes.

After a moment's thought, she also yeets some courtroom thrillers at him, then resumes reading, herself.

"Very interesting, thank you."

"I'm glad you liked them.  Hope they help."

He goes back to writing; Daisy continues to putter around, and after a few hours she starts making Pradnakt's breakfast.

"...what time is it, anyway?"

"Roughly eleven or eleven thirty, this planet doesn't quite have a twenty-four hour day."

"...Damn, my sleep schedule is going to be shot.  If it wasn't already dead on arrival, that is.  ...How the heck do y'all handle weird rotational periods relative to Galactic Standard Timekeeping, anyway?  ...If you do."

"There's a standard calendar, but generally each planet or ship will keep its own clock and translate when it's needed."

"At least y'all don't have Daylight Savings.  I really fucking hope.  Right?"
