There's enough lack of urgency to get the new arrival squeaky-clean! They get a box of wipes and scrubs and get to it, vigorously debriding and cleaning the skin as they slowly replace the bandages to keep them somewhat fresh. Some of them feel cool to the touch, or have a gel that slows down the blood somehow. It's a bit awkward to have the two of them in the same, but it's obviously needed to keep the them both cooperating.

Deptka grips the rail of the hospital bed as they're cleaning out the wound and makes some kind of low, vaguely musical but off key humming sound. It's the kind of thing someone might find unnerving, if they were the sort to be unnerved, but he's not screaming which is what you'd half expect someone to do when getting an injury like this cleaned up.

"Request: Bring me closer?" Patik includes with this a fairly clear couple of hand gestures conveying something going from herself towards her partner. She'd like to put a hand on his arm for reassurance. "Thank you all so much."

Precise humming like that is impressive! And everything obviously goes better with the two of them together, indeed it seems like it could make perfect sense to keep them together... they'll try to get a videocall with some linguist who can hopefully find the language of these people? But not while things are this precarious.

Patik hasn't quite gotten that nobody here understands her. Overlap is a good language for emergencies in part because "I want to go that way" just has very intuitive hand gestures.

She has noticed that these people aren't saying any language she knows, but she's not a medic zekiv, probably medics have their own argot. In an act of willpower she's going to watch Depkta for a while longer before getting distracted by LANGUAGES!!! because the humming isn't a good sign, but these people seem to know what they're doing. She'll watch and wait and run her hand up and down his arm a little, reminding him she's here, until the bandage is back firmly in place.

And now they've got another set of bandages, and hav cut his chance of dying of an infection well enough, and have as much circulation in the scary-looking foot as they can manage on short notice. So... one of the people treating Deptka steps back, rapidly goes through a phone for something, and starts talking to Patik. "Who are you?" he asks. He's not expecting it to work.

LANGUAGES!!!

She doesn't know this one. Obviously these people know Overlap, everyone knows Overlap (which is BORING because then people develop accents and habits and so too many languages are like, Overlap with extra bits unless someone's deliberately trying something different, but apparently this is good for blah blah Patik thinks those zekivs are lame anyway) but if they're going to let her try and work this out the fun way she's going to go for it.

"Overlap, Nomic Lingua Duos, Aeyeia." Each of those sounds very different. Patik waits expectantly for this person to tell her the obvious first most important information you share when meeting someone new, which is what languages they speak.

All languages completely alien or at least not recognized by the voice dictation thing which is only to be expected from people teleporting! "I don't think we speak the same language" he replies, which the phone manages to get and note down easy, though with a slight delay. He shows the cool voice dication software working to Patik.

Two of Patik's main languages are significantly signed. Aeyeia has a few signs but they're mostly loanwords from Overlap meant for crosstalk. Since these people aren't signing at all she'll use that one.

Aeyeia is sung more than spoken. Linguist-musicians spent a lot of time trying to make a language where aesthetically displeasing sentences and paragraphs were grammatically incorrect. This is rough, because despite a lot of practice Patik is still a little tone deaf and Aeyeia is heavily tonal.

"We came here in a panic/
and I know not where we are./
I'm a stranger oft called Patik,/
Tell me, have we traveled far?"

...how do you tell someone there is no possibility of you understanding their language. He instinctively fiddles with the language settings, looking up how to say "can you read this" in as many languages as possible in slight frustration.

Nope, none of those look like ones she knows! She doesn't even know the alphabets, and that's unusual, she memorized the first half-dozen letters of lots of alphabets just for this exact identification question. She. . . hrm, what does she have for writing materials, oh there's a pen. She'll scribble a bit of Aeyeia on her hand and hold it up but her attention is on the alphabets she's being shown.

Start with the basics! "Pen." She holds up her pen and points with her other hand at it. "Pen."

Deptka is in less acute pain now that nobody is cutting or rubbing away his skin. His eyes are open and he looks over at where he hears Patik's voice. Oh. She's found someone to talk languages to. That's nice.
