"Oh, if they know that it was here and tell them they'll want to know why you don't have it. I guess either we don't have them leave, or we find a way to not be here that doesn't depend on them letting us. Are there items that would let us sneak out and leave if we had them?"

She shakes her head. "Nothing that's going to stand up the scanners they've got outside. Personal stealth field generators are a myth. And I'd prefer to still be able to take contracts with the Reclamation Service after this."

"This is supposed to be a myth too. If it can make those you can just show them everything else while I disappear with it and everything it has, and think of somewhere to meet up later after you're done with them."

Egg? 1 'personal stealth field generator', please.

After a brief moment of digestion, the egg disgorges a belt-shaped object, with several clunky boxes attached. It's not too heavy, but the size and shape will definitely interfere if she tries anything too acrobatic.

The part where she'll be carrying the egg means she'll be unable to do that anyway.

Speaking of that, she wants something she can put the egg in and wear on her back, if it can't make things bigger than itself it can come out folded up.

"Does this work, stealth-wise?"

"Try turning it on, and we'll see."

Is there a switch to flip or something like that?

Once she puts it on, there's a button in a sort of obvious place near where her left hand naturally rests.

Press!

Whoa, where'd the world go? She is now incapable of seeing beyond about an inch and a half in front of her eyeballs. It's dark in the sense that there is literally zero light to see by. Not 'very little', actually none.

She can see much better than a human in the dark, but that's in the dark, not in the literally no light whatsoever. She'll press the button again. Does that make the world come back?

It does!

The world includes a very surprised Kayra. "I really didn't think that would work."

"It works, but I couldn't see anything. Any ideas for getting around that?"

"Not off the top of my head. Memorize where everything is and plan your route?"

"That could work. I should check if I can hear things, that would help a lot." Press. Does it block out sound? Does it block out vibrations through the floor?

Ambient sounds she cannot detect, but if she focuses she could still pick up vibrations in the floor to whatever extent she is natively able to.

She is not really able to tell much more than whether something heavy is coming. She's not an earth elemental or anything, she's just out of better options. She'll need to get better at that eventually, but there isn't really time for that now. Press.

To T'chmakh-of-the-Favor: "Is there a map of this place somewhere?"

"No," he says. "This is our own world. What need have we of a map?"

"I can feel things, but not otherwise hear. Is there a route from where we met to out of here if I just follow a wall, so I don't get lost?"

"There is no way out. We do not leave."

"Other than the front door. Makes sense not having more than a single way in or out of your impregnable vault."
