Okay Time To See How Good It Feels To Touch Random Strangers' Skin Again. Who is on the docket now aside from her first several presumptive failed attempts. Also ugh.
"It means, like... you know how rivers flow into the sea, and little streams flow into big streams flow into rivers? A watershed is the area around a river where all the water is flowing into that river instead of into a different one. So it's just like the thing my power does, where I can sense how water is flowing but only if it's connected to the same water I'm touching."
"Huh." She nods. "Yeah, that makes sense. ...That reminds me I gotta think of a different name than Nitro, it's taken."
"Hmmm..." She ponders. "Something about the way you fly... Hummingbird? No, they hover, you're doing a different thing..."
"I can hover," she says. "But Hummingbird doesn't really sound like me." Despite how much she likes having iridescent green hair.
"Not off the top of my head, but I'll think about it."
She thinks about it.
As they're getting back to the gym, she says, "Can you have a two-word esper name? Kinda like firstname lastname?"
"Hm." Nod. Something Nitro, or Nitro Something. She's not sure what Something is yet but there's potential there.
"Back on - "
She stifles a yawn.
" - sorry. Back on the treadmill?"
"Do you think it would work as well if I carried you instead of the other way around? If it does, probably best to get used to both, so you and the people you're guiding with can swap back and forth."
" - huh," she says. "We could try it, I guess? But I don't mind bein' the carrier, I think I'm probably gonna be the one getting myself into trouble most of the time."
"Well, if you want to guide someone when you're not backlashed, you can always stay still. But when you are backlashed, I think it's a good idea to try swapping back and forth. I imagine you can get pretty tired of walking, and the people you're carrying might get tired of riding piggyback too - it's easier, but it's still something people mostly aren't used to, you know?"
Who's gonna turn down getting carried, she thinks in the course of trying to find a way to turn down being carried. "Huh. Guess that makes sense. We can try it if you want." She will let Watershed enpiggyback her and climb onto the treadmill.
So the question is - actually, no. The first question is, "Do you know if being carried works for you?" She turns away from the treadmill, prepared to do a circuit of the gym to find out.
"I know being in a car works," she says. Musingly: "and walking on the treadmill only kinda works, I gotta shut my eyes."
"Mmmyeah that works," she says distantly, after a moment. "Let me know when you wanna switch back, mkay........"
"Mhm!"
Wandering the gym is kind of more fun than walking on a treadmill anyway. She keeps doing it.
Parry gets comfortable. Her head droops a little, and she stares at the floor tiles passing by beneath them.
God she's had such a long fucking day. She nestles comfortably against Watershed, and lets out a little sigh as some patch of skin brushes against skin, guiding-soft.
Yeah, that's how it is sometimes. Watershed trots contentedly around the gym, sometimes circling the perimeter, sometimes zigzagging or winding back and forth.
Awwww.
Watershed does her best to be a good place to nap. Who knows how long Parry has been on her feet. That backlash...
