When they get back, Dottie is waiting in the driveway, looking a bit stern. "Oh, looks like I've got business to attend to. You don't mind, do you? What with all those shiny books."

"That sounds great."

"I'll be in the office if you need anything."

She's left alone until about 10:30, when Mr. Forrest, foster guy, arrives. Kent knocks on her room door. "Anna-Seraphina! Mr. Forrest is here to see you whenever you're ready."

She marks her place in her book and opens the door.

Kent and Foster Guy, Dottie behind them.

Mr. Forrest says, "I just wanted to see if there were any problems settling in. I also... Have to inform you that it's been decided to arrange a few therapy sessions for you."

Dottie offers, "Tea? We had extra left."

"I haven't had any problems."

"I'd like to talk for a little bit, away from Mr. Tower and Miss Yates, if you don't mind."

"I don't mind at all, I understand why it's necessary."

"Okay."

And once they're more alone, "He hasn't denied you anything necessary? Forgotten important needs? Gotten upset at you? Anything like that. I'm trying to live up to my promise to be thorough in double-checking, after that mess."

She shakes her head. "Nothing like that has happened so far."

He nods. "You're comfortable with any chores that have been assigned, he's made arrangements for schooling... Will you be attending the Spirit Association meetings?"

"Yeah. To all of those."

"Alright. I won't bother you any more then. But you can always call me, you still have my card? Actually, do you know if you'll be getting a cell phone?"

"I haven't asked. I do have your card."

"Well. Have a nice Sunday, Anna-Seraphina. I'll see myself out."

"...Thank you for looking out for me."

He gives a small smile, the first time she's seen such an expression. "Times when I can actually help are why I took this soul-crushing government job, so thank you for thanking me."

"I just wish..." she shakes her head. "Nevermind. You're welcome."

"Goodbye, then."

And he leaves. Kent and Dottie don't seek her out if she doesn't go looking for them.

She goes back to her room to keep reading.

Kent briefly checks on her. If she doesn't have any particular requests or questions, she'll be left alone until noon, at which time he announces imminent pasta.

She does not have either of those things. She comes out of her room for pasta.

Pasta: Is pretty yummy! It includes a red sauce that has some kind of mushroom in it. And, again, large portion sizes. "I want to show you the shelter after lunch, if you're interested."

"Sure."
