ain't no mountain high enough
Emiko's fork reacts to her disappearance

She wakes with that slight discontinuity that always comes from lost time. As per her preferences, she's immediately presented with all the information available about her lost time.

She watches sensor readout of the malfunction. She watches historical data from the soulnet as her primary self was flung beyond the area it covers. She reads The Heart's records showing that her shielding system was in continuous operation for three weeks before abruptly turning off with occasional brief reactivations in the time since. She acknowledges the note that her soul is still bound and so biological re-embodiment is not recommended at this time.

Her first self is alive in unknown conditions. Either she's spontaneously developed an alternative to her shielding or somehow she's made her way into a new unknown realm.
