The medical droid's sleep-study circuitry seems to have been mysteriously disabled. 

"Want me to go talk to her?"

"Well, I would rather not go in there."

"Ok I know how to walk cuffed."

"It is only us in my private quarters and I have disabled security recordings. There is no need for this ridiculous charade at present, unless it gives you any pleasure."

Rather a lot of the ancient Sith Lords did become... eccentric. He did have his theories, but perhaps exposure to the future simply does that to people.

"Mara, I'm going coming in."

She starts, sitting up painfully from where she was lying staring vaguely into the light. "Come in." Her voice doesn't even sound strained.

"The sleep tracking bot seems to have malfunctioned."

"However could that have happened. Empire's gone downhill since my day."

"Yeah, can't even build a proper Death Star anymore.

So how long does it take to get between systems?"

"Depends. Ship like this, probably nominally Class-2 but these days who knows what state the systems are in. Then hyperlanes vary a lot, and the astrogator makes a big difference. Hours to weeks, not months, probably."

"Long enough that you should just take a nap, or maybe even actually sleep?"

"I have some kind of feeling that I shouldn't. It'll pass. Eventually if I wait long enough I'll probably just pass out."

"Like a force feeling or?"

"I don't even fucking know any more. Maybe. I haven't had those properly in years."

"Oh right well that should be wearing off. You are a force user in the near future la."

"Can you just please tell me what's going to happen to me." It feels like blurting it out and she's trying to be nice but it comes out as a growl.

"Ok, you become a co-founder of the new Jedi order marry Luke and have about a dozen books worth of adventures which I have in my archives but mostly not working memory."

"Because the order provides a reasonably coherent internal philosophy and a he is hig key kinda cute.
