Sargon certainly has no idea that she is counting any such thing.

He certainly does not. She is a trained Companion and more than capable of hiding such things.

He is unfairly hot when he smiles like that, though.

Tea. He can have some more information about tea.

He likes information about tea! He also likes Bea!!

But he doesn't seem to be thinking about kissing her hardly at all. He's attracted, but not dwelling on it.

That is totally reasonable. If she still wants to kiss him in, oh, a couple of months, and he continues not really thinking about it, she'll revisit the question.

And in the meantime he can learn about tea.

Yes. "At this rate this will be the Ship Of The Tea People."

He giggles. "I think you'd have a harder time dragging Anwar in here."

"Erika first. Then we simply overwhelm him."

"A strategist!"

"Naturally. They teach us more than just the arts."

"I wouldn't count on that against Anwar if I were you."

"Okay, fair point."

"You have no idea," he says wryly.

"I think I have a little."

"If he'd been in charge we would've won the war."

"I'm sorry he wasn't, then."

"Me too."

"...Do you want a hug?"

"—yeah."

Hug.

Hug.

Some instinct or other wants him to believe that he can put it all down now, that one hug from someone over the age of twenty and not directly entangled in the mess that is his life means it's over and he can just cry for an hour and then never have to carry that weight again. But this is not in fact the case, and it wouldn't be remotely fair to lay that on her.

She can tell that he's holding something back, but not what, and it's almost certainly premature to pry.

Sigh. Hug.

"Thanks," he says.

"You're welcome.

I didn't really have an opinion on the war besides hoping it didn't inconvenience me too much, before Evaras."

"I lived on Evaras from when I was fifteen until—" he shrugs slightly, letting go in the process. "It was beautiful there."
