A Stolen Spark arrives in the Green

One evening, long ago, just as the Sun sinks below the horizon, the Night Sky snatches a spark of its light, a fraction of a fraction of the arrogant star's power, too small to be noticed. The spark is nurtured, incomplete and empty as it is, until the machinations of a god allied to the Night avail a mind ready and able, if not completely willing, to play this role. The mind is intertwined with the spark, and sent streaking down to the mortal world, safely hidden among a perfectly ordinary meteor shower.

The spark falls from the great heights of the sky, through the middle air, and finally into the verdant lands of the Green. The leaves and branches of the trees blacken under the spark's blazing brightness, though no flames are born as it slows to a stop a few feet above the forest floor.

The spark grows, from a single point of light into rods and panels of golden glow, quickly forming into a sublime rune, THEL, the name of elemental Light.

In the next moment, the light expands further, lines coiling and branching at the edges until CHIRR, mana, encapsulates THEL. Instantly, greats clouds of mist billow from the glowing runic complex, quickly filling the charred clearing and spilling out between the trees of the surrounding forest.

Within the cloud, the runic complex continues to augment itself. The twin runes TAL and GAM, Offense and Defense, sprout like wings from the central THEL-CHIRR, numerous lesser runes of form and function covering them like feathers, before being encompassed by the great breadth of the manifold and multifarious VIN, which is in turn covered by the father-rune VET and mother-rune FAL, then the binding coil of LIS twists through every component of the runic complex, sealing it into a fist-sized sphere.

In the following moment, the cloud of mana-mist, which had expanded to cover a large section of forest and already started to cause the numerous magical creature inhabiting this corner of the Green to stir, begins to contract, slowly at first but with quickening pace. until it is like a crushing gale imploding upon the rune at its heart. The mana, pressed with rapidly growing force into the elemental core, reluctantly condenses even further, from ethereal mist to glassy liquid, first in droplets but quickly engulfing the core completely.

A new runic structure begins to extend from the core's capsule, through the mana-glass. Initially it bears some passing resemblance to PRET, shape, albeit warped and distorted, but only diverges even further as it expands in tandem with the mana-glass (which is still condensing from the imploding mist cloud). Soon, the gold and glass have filled out a human-like form with two long strands of glass extending from the forehead, into the chest of which the last of the mist collapses. For a moment, the form continues to shine, like a human star come to ground, but then dims to merely a glistening auroral shimmer as the shape solidifies, with only thin traceries of glass across its skin, forming a channeling and focusing network for the torrential flows of mana inside the body, to reveal its inner light. Finally, on the center of the palm of the figure's left hand, gold turns to black in a circular mark, purpose and function as yet unknown.

A keening fills the air briefly, and the naked form is sheathed in metal armor while a simple satchel laden with three treasures clings to its shoulders.

The air quiets, and the figure falls to ground with graceful poise, the miracle of their creation seemingly spent. Opening their eyes, they reveal two spheres of noonsky-azure.

"Very well. If my fate lies in this realm regardless of my wishes, I will endeavor to complete it." The figure says to himself. He retrieves a palm-sized disk of metal from his satchel and begins to orient himself with it. Seemingly finding his bearings, he stows his Adventurer's Watch once more, forms wings of light with an exertion of will, then leaps, rising above the jungle canopy in a single bound and promptly gliding off towards his first goal.
