"Thanks."

Which is when Erika's mom calls out: "Girls! Dinner is ready."

"Coming!" Time to pack up, wash up, and eat!

"Did you two meet at school?" Erika's mom asks over dinner.

"Mm. We go to the same library, after."

She'll ask a couple light questions about school, then, and what Ami does outside of it.

A lot of cram school, lately – she wants to be a doctor, like her mother. She used to do track and field club, though, and she's thinking of cutting back on the studying so she can pick that back up...

"It's good to diversify your interests, and to pace yourself so you don't burn out," she comments. "Which was a hard lesson for me to learn, at your age."

"I'm starting to figure that out. Erika-san's been a big help."

"I'm doing my best."

Her best is pretty good, then.

Aw, thanks.

It's only true.

True compliments are the best ones.

It's good Ami's an honest person, then.

It is an all-around virtue.

Thanks.

(Conversation kind of peters off a bit after – she thanks Erika's mother for the meal, mentions she'll need to get home after dinner.)

"I can walk you to the station?" Erika offers.

"I'd appreciate it, thanks."

"Be back in a bit," she tells her mother, and they can head out.
