"How hard are runes to learn? Is there a rank 0 version?" Flip flip through the book.

"There is not a rank zero version but rank one isn't that hard, especially if you're coming at them from an Academic perspective."

"Is there a book handy?"

"Sure." 

She ducks into Johann's room to grab a basic textbook on runes. 

Wizards will happily look through the provided books and eat snacks for rather a while.

Aww. 

Eliza settles on the couch nobody is sleeping on right this minute and starts making some miscellaneous objects fly around in patterns in front of her. 

Eventually, when the wizards seem to be at a slight lull, Lisao says, "you guys wanted to go to the gym, right? I can show you there if you want."

"Yeah, it'd be good to know the way, maybe for tomorrow since today was graduation but perhaps I'll be seized by a desire to go for a run."

"I might do some running but mostly I'm hoping to find someone to spar with." She vanishes briefly into her room to grab her gym bag. 

"I don't think either of us are really the sparring type."

"I will do a magical duel with you if you front the mana and we work out ground rules ahead of time."

"--Oh, no, I mean regular martial arts. It's not the most common witch hobby but it's not completely useless."

"Yeah, that I can't help you with at all."

"That's fine, none of my roommates will help me with that either. I have other friends."

Bella finishes her ice cream and gets up to follow Lisao to the gym.

The path to the gym winds its way past a handful of other dormitory buildings, through a handful of quads variously decorated. One has a fountain in the center with pink water flowing from it; another one has wildflowers growing in weird but definitely deliberate patterns. 

The gym building is pretty enormous. There are locker rooms, male and female and gender-agnostic.

Wow their being charmed by objectively basic things is extremely endearing!!!

Bella does not wind up being inspired to go on a run, but she learns where things are and reads the rules on the wall.

Caio hasn't been using weights conveniently marked with how heavy they are and goes to see what his deadlift is up to. It's 210 pounds.

The rules are mostly safety warnings for various exercise equipment, but there are also rules like "seriously, don't assault anyone, we mean it" and "running in places not designated for running is a bad idea." 

Lisao spots a potential sparring partner and heads over. 

The two exchange a few pleasantries and get into one of the rings. 

They're very good. Not, like, inhumanly good, but definitely high-end-of-human-plausibility good.
