“No, you can only use it for ones you have an affinity for."

"But I can use it for other stuff that I don't have an affinity for? - will this affect wizard magic in any way?"

“Yes, and it shouldn’t, respectively. If someone develops a ranked magic based on a non-ranked witch ability, and then someone takes a restriction for the ranked version, they also can’t access the original, non-ranked version, but nobody has invented ranked magic based on a wizard ability yet.”
