The lobby was spooky after hours. It wasn’t really ever “after hours” during a confluence, of course; there were night shifts running their plays on the floors above. And really, the place was a lot like a hotel, given all the esper silos housed directly in the building, so there was a skeleton staff at the front desk. Even so, it was spare in comparison to the hubbub he had experienced earlier that morning, when the place was in full swing.
It was also rather unfortunately public, in the sense that the people passing through had very little to dissuade or impede them from glancing over to regard a young plausibly Korean esper they didn’t recognize, rolling out his neck and studying the elevators from a conspicuously inconspicuous corner. Dasol ignored it as best he could. Back in Russia, that was quite a bit easier, since he was not typically paraded about alone, and more famous espers were usually nearby to draw attention, but in this case it was his very anonymity that drove the interest.
