She is Too Cute. "I look forward to it!"

And with one thing and another it is time for Bun to meet the students. 

Tanidio is terrified, which is one of those unproductive emotions that he's pretty sure he'll be purified from in the fires of Hell.

There are twenty-five students in the front hall of the house, about two-thirds girls. They are perfectly still and perfectly silent and they look terrified. 

...joining medical school would be even more terrifying if he didn't know what medical school is.

The gender balance is not what he expected though.

"It's nice to meet you all. -- you don't need to stand at attention."

The students collectively try to stand at attention in a way that looks minimally like standing at attention. The effects are mixed.

Minelia, Quina, and Tetula are the best at looking natural; Minelia and Quina are good at acting, while Tetula is legitimately distracted by a painting. Sallina and Biana both appear to have decided that "not standing at attention" is the same as "desirous of committing murder." Korva is telling herself a story and is not quite succeeding at believing it. 

...okay. That'll do, at least. They have time to get their shoulders down from around there ears.

"You have an hour to go get settled in,  and the first class will start."

The students mostly disperse.

Tetula is supposed to Seduce Bun. She is not quite sure how to do that but she is going to get a good start.

"Hello!" she says. 

A friendly and not actually terrified student: a good start! "Hello." He should introduce himself.  ... he should find out who this is,  through the medium of introducing himself.  "I'm Dr Bun. And you are?"

"I'm Tetula! I'm really excited to learn medicine and help people!"

He has one enthusiastic, non-terrified student who isn't twelve. A good if not ideal start! "That's good to hear! It's nice to have a student who is excited to learn."

"I really admire you for wanting to help people and save all the babies!" Tetula says, Goodly. 

"You're going to help with it, too."

"But you're so amazing!" She is standing uncomfortably in his personal space.

...so she is. It's a cultural difference,  probably? He's still going to take a step back. "I'm an ordinary doctor, I'm just lucky enough to be here."

This is taxing Tetula's limited flirtation skills.

She trips over her own feet. "Oops!" she says. "My boob fell out of my shirt."

????

He pointedly looks elsewhere so she can have the privacy to fix it.

(You know what's nice about residents? They have never flirted-slash-whatever-this-is on the first day he knows them.)

Tetula would have spent any time flirting if she had known that it would be this important to her future life!

She stands up, puts her boob back in her shirt, and sneakily tugs it down so it reveals almost her entire boob anyway. "You must be very stressed with all the new students!"

Well,  he is right now.

"This isn't so bad, I haven't had to grade you yet."

"I can give you a massage to help you relax! I am very good at massages!"

"That is a kind offer,  but will not be necessary."

"Well, tell me if you change your mind!"

He will not. "I'm sure you'll do well when we get to the physiotherapy section. ...if we get to the physiotherapy section." Why yes,  he is trying to steer away from the conversational rapids, thank you for asking.

"Maybe I can practice on you!"

"...or a patient with an actual problem." She met him five minutes ago. Why.
