That's certainly the aim. What does Belmarniss think - actually, does she look like she wants to step outside to discuss whether she thinks they're trustworthy? Tanya will follow her lead; she asked all the questions she could think of yesterday.

"I'm not getting any particular sketchiness off them but I am not the world's greatest judge of character or anything."

"I don't expect to be better than you are at judging people, not on Golarion. And I think it's the organization that needs to be evaluated, not just the individuals. We've only talked to reception clerks, anyway, I don't think they would be in on any corruption. Everything I heard and read about Abadarans as an organization was good, and the Nethysians didn't have any convincing claims against them in their function as a bank, but you must have encountered many more - offhand references to them than I have."

"Law and its correlates are not big downstairs! When I have encountered offhand mentions in books and stuff it's, like, they're not universally popular but the people who hate them either just find them personally grating, or are too Chaotic to vibe with the being a bank that expects to still exist next year thing, or seem liable to be bad at math?"

"The Nethysian librarian didn't know of any real complaints against them, but the library is censored. Songbird Cuoco didn't warn me not to trust them. I could fly to Andoran or another country tomorrow and ask the Nethysians or Shelynites or maybe other good churches there for their opinion, in case some complaints were censored. I... can't think of other ways to build trust in them quickly, and these ways all rely on us trusting someone else for their opinion, which doesn't add much unless there's a big scandal that was covered up but only in Taldor."

"Well, I don't know of one for whatever that gets us. They have a good truth spell. The Abadarans, I mean. There's a second circle cleric spell that any cleric can get which works on an area, but you can't tell by looking if somebody made their save, you have to just hope they didn't. The Abadaran one you can see if it's in effect or not; they might make their save but it'll look like the spell not landing so you don't trust them."

"That's very useful! It gives us an easy way to make them trust us... well, we'll need to pay for the spell, presumably. Do we trust them to honestly cast it on themselves?"

"I can watch 'em with Detect Magic to make sure they'd at least have to be elaborate about faking it."

"So can I but I've never seen the spell before so I wouldn't know if it was different. ...given all this, I'm inclined to trust them because I don't see a better option, but... do you think we should wait a few days in case we think of something we haven't?"

"It doesn't seem that likely especially since I was already kind of leaning that you should go hang out with Abadarans before we hit sunshine."

"Then we might as well do it now. Do you think it's worth the four gold which may be returned on ambiguous terms or should we wait a few days to try to catch a discounted slot?"

"I think it's worth the four gold, since we're paying for an inn and getting you on your feet quicker might save nearly that much.
