"I like puzzles."

That gets Owl Guy to sit down nearby.

Score.  (He emotes neutrality about this.)  "I've determined that in dealts with only reds which are also all even, black evens higher than the range will score.  It might be less restrictive than that, but at least those take when there's nothing complicated going on with the numbers."  He has similar conjectures for most of the deals, though there are plenty of combinations for which he hasn't gotten anything to work in his favor yet.

Owl Guy will watch for a few more hands and then start venturing his own guesses.

Aten has explanations for why he expects some of the suggestions to be illegal moves or losing, and wants to know what information Owl Guy expects to gain from anything he doesn't have one of those for, when it isn't obvious.  Also his name, what's that.

"Don't read?" he asks, tapping his name embroidery that says BARTRA.

"...I do, I just didn't expect people's names to be on their clothes.  Coats aren't so rare here that they shuffle them around between people as needed?"

"They can unpick the embroidery if I kick it and the coat survives," snorts Bartra.

"But not on the scale of individual patrols."

"You see anybody hanging around without a coat on even indoors?"

"Well, us.  ...We can heat rooms, some; it's possible we should do this."

"If they won't be paying us for anything..."

...Shrug.

"How d'you heat rooms?"

"Did you hear how we got here?"

"Wacky interplanetary adventurer accident, is what's around."

Nod.  (Close enough.)  "And it wasn't fatal because we can double things from other people onto ourselves, including heat.  Which is also something we can do inside."

"Through walls?"

"No, but through a small hole in one, or from the other side of a heavy blanket which mostly covers a doorway."

"...we haven't got small holes in walls. Anyway, one person doesn't warm up a room much, you need a few bunking for it to be really noticeable."

"One person doesn't if they can only do it once."

"Are you saying you can dump the heat into the room as fast as you pick it up?"

"Just so."

"How? What else can you dump into rooms?"

"It's something everyone on our planet can do.  Most anything that comes off of people?"
