She gets to write so many songs about this!!

She goes into #8's mess hall to see what people are saying! (She'll sing a victory song in a bit, but not right away.)

They're mostly pretty jazzed about it in their muted fashion, with some exceptions (how will this affect people who were sentenced here as an alternative to the mines, if they pull a lot of people? is supply going to get even worse or does this mean that at least one archmage is spending at least one thought on the Wound and will send stuff, maybe unusually nice stuff, this particular fort got potatoes instead of rice with a side of string beans delivered by a talking cat a few weeks ago and is still talking about it; if the Worldwound is closed why did they have that succubus incident.)

Venn doesn't have educated thoughts on most of these things, but the succubus incident makes sense to her. The archmages closed the wound, but presumably they did not deal with all the demons inside the wardstone barrier. It's an enormous amount of land, and presumably there are still thousands of demons in there that will need to be contained.

When she does her healing song, she sings of victory against what had seemed to be an endless tide, of the effort of tens of thousands of mortals across generations, of the courage that comes knowing that the task is possible and the end is in sight.

She doesn't linger, though - there's an eastward patrol leaving, and she's more eager than before to continue her Great Journey.

They sneak up on and easily dispatch a pack of five schirs, with her buffs and the soldier's bows and spears turning them to pincushions before they get a chance to strike back. (It's very satisfying - most of the martials in the patrol hadn't experienced song-sorceress support, and she could tell they were braced for a dangerous encounter that they might not all survive.)

At least one of these people previously thought bards were kind of fake and it didn't do anything when they sang at you and is now reconsidering this.

(Venn privately thinks the soldiers who are convinced the song-sorcery isn't actually real are kinda delightful, so she doesn't make any kind of fuss about this revelation.)

It's a long day of travel for her - she arrives at fort #11 hours past sunset, mind buzzing.

Night Shift Guy Lt. Conill nods at her when she's been waved through and notes this in his report notes.

She makes a bit of small talk, and then wanders off to find out if Blai is around / awake / unbusy.

Presumably asleep. He didn't know when she'd be back.

Makes sense! Venn eats a late dinner and gossips happily with anyone in the mess hall, and then heads off to bed and is awake bright and early the next day, buzzing with excitement.

Blai comes down the stairs for breakfast predictably an hour after dawn,

- and spots her! She exists! He did not imagine her!

Awwww. She gives him a very warm smile and will make sure there's room for him at her table, if he wants to catch up in public. (If not, she'll find him before the next eastbound leaves in three hours, and chat and make out then.)

Unfortunately he has to take Lt. Conill's report from overnight while he eats but he can do this while sitting nearish her.

Then Venn will talk animatedly about what she saw out there to the people nearby! (And if her voice carries in her excitement, well, that's not going to be a surprise to anyone, they've had her for a month and a half now.)

The far-west forts are doing surprisingly okay on healing - Venn suspects that they're getting a lot of devil's blood and using their wizards. She doesn't believe half the rumors about the Irriseni forts but here are some she thinks are plausible and here are some that are just funny. She's so excited about the worldwound closing - obviously there's a lot of work left to do, but it's such a momentous occasion, and she's delighted to be here for it and can't wait to see and hear about the different ways people feel about it all along the line.

The mood at #11 seems to be pretty positive on it; they will have to stay on for a few more years, probably, but then maybe they can shut the fort down, and all go home.

And Blai, when she gets him alone and in her arms?

"Well, it makes my long term life planning more uncertain, but it's obviously a good thing."

"Does it help knowing that Lastwall can always find you somewhere where your skills and circles will be well-used?" (Ahhhh it's so nice, being in his arms.)

Pet pet. "I'm not formally a church member. I don't qualify. Abadar somewhat acts as a hiring officer for His church but Iomedae's does it separately. So I can't write them for orders, only advice, and they may not be able to render the ideal deployment for me as advice."

Happy bard noises! "You don't think you'll go to Lastwall, become part of the church proper?" She's pretty sure that's allowed.

"I'm still waiting for replies to some letters about whether it can be done by correspondence - I assume not everyone has to physically travel to the seat of the Church to be appropriately ordained. It's not that I wouldn't like to see Lastwall but the getting there is not, for me, itself an enticement, and even if the Worldwound is closed and proves remarkably swift to wind down as a going concern, I suspect Cheliax proper is low on positive channels just like the Chelish fortress line is."

"Maybe they can do an exchange program? Lastwall must itself need channels, right, and maybe some of the people doing them there don't need to be there specifically..."

"That might be a good idea, I could really use some catechism classes and will not find them anywhere recently a Chelish possession."
