You are Carnelian Mugearite, and you get paid to dispel ghosts by people who need a ghost dispelled but don't want to tell the city watch why there's a ghost here, or who the city watch ignores. The city watch ignores a lot of people, but unfortunately they don't always ignore the rather impressive array of ghost hunting tools you have, or the fact that you keep being mentioned when people report ghost sightings. You don't always get paid by your clients either. Frankly you'd do ghost hunting for free, but your tools don't pay their own upkeep.Today you have a job offer from a family who lives in a cramped and dismal little aparment in a cramped and dismal little part of the city. Their daughter died while experimenting with illegal alchemy, and the family hasn't figured out how to explain this to the city watch. In the mean time, they do need her unquiet spirit put to rest.

The father tells of the strange smells and sounds that happened early yesterday morning, and coming in to find the daughter half dissolved next to the workbench. All day, tools and reagents have been moving about or mixing themselves, and twice this afternoon there was the sizzling of more acid being dripped on the floor. He has since barred the doorway to the workroom and has kept the rest of the family out of it.
I tell the family to clear out of the apartment for the day. Take a family trip to the market or something. This could get ugly.
