Boston Kevin and Bella clean classrooms

"So you're doing all the Boston freshman shifts?" Bella asks, as she and Kevin collect mops and dustcloths and sponges and buckets from the closet nearest the classrooms they're going to clean. There are a bunch of eggs behind the buckets, which she steps on out of general principle rather than because they're threatening. "Is that just for now or indefinitely?"

"It's indefinitely. I like doing maintenance and hate doing homework; they'd all rather do the homework. I'm gonna do my own shop projects and learn spells but not the readings and essays type stuff." Kevin starts cleaning up the squashed-eggs mess.

She helps with that. Mop mop. "Huh, are you going to collect more like standard maintenance kids do or just stick to Boston's?"

"Depends on whether I end up with spare time I want to sell. I'm more likely to pick up shifts one at a time than anything else ongoing, so I have plenty of shop time, but I'll see how the market shakes out I guess."

"Do you have a ballpark on what you'd charge, if I'm swamped some week?" The mop buckets don't have wheels because the school was built in the 1800s; she picks hers up instead.

Selling time is tricky because paying in mana would defeat the whole point on the other person's end, but: "One good spell or two snack tokens per shift?"

"Huh, really? I will probably often be happy to pay two snack tokens, they happen every week and I don't care for gambling."

The upperclassmen say it's a better gamble when you can average over a bunch of them; getting something inedible feels less painful when you can try again but getting something good is no less good. And of course he can always resell them. "Fair enough. Warning that rates will go up around midterms and finals and any time I'm swamped for some other reason."

"Totally legit."

"Speaking of trades, are you the person who's buying agglo cages from Franklin?"

"Yep, that's me! Why do you ask?"

"Mostly just curious if I had the right person, but your science is cool. If we find any agglos today do you want me to grab 'em?"

"I don't have a place to put them yet! I guess I could just put some in my room and hope they like it there and are still present when the container's done. I'm not even positive where I'll put it yet, Toronto drove a harder bargain than I expected for the use of their suicide's and I'm not sure if I want to put them in mine or in the other dead girl's."
